Annoying things about CPU

Postby MaceG1 » 02 May 2014, 00:40

I love this game! However, I find some of the things you encounter when playing against the CPU incredibly annoying.

1- First, I don't understand why the CPU always has deeper more penetrating shots than I do- regardless of their position on the ball. My shots never reach the baseline no matter how early I take the ball. Is there anything I can do to remedy this?

2- Also, the net cord winners are soooooo annoying ! It takes the fun out of the game, because it only happens in favor of the CPU and it NEVER happens for you when you hit the ball. In real life, net cords result in many kinds of outcomes. Usually the ball goes into the air for an extended period, giving the opponent an advantage. However in TE the net cords cause the ball to skid and give the CPU an advantage. It doesn't make any sense.

Hello,

1- you can do same kind of ball when you prepare too late : it'll go too long or too short, so sometimes it ends on the baseline.

2- thanks to people who have posted some .Dmo, it'll likely have less net cords in next version => topic13-14063.php .

One of the most annoying things to me is how easily the computer does a short acceleration winner cross court when he's pulled out wide.

The other extreme is when the computer is in a controlling position but then hits a very poor, short approach shot.

True, especially on forehand. I always expect that shot and try to prepare for it.
It's true though that in real tennis that shot it's very common and not that difficult for a pro player to do it. It's that it happens a lot of times and it's very effective and difficult to deal with (as it is for all short acceleration shots).
As I said, it happens more on the forehand side and that's why I tend to play a lot to the backhand side. It's effective but it's not that fun and realistic

What's surface do you play? What's your CPU opponent's playing style?

It sometime happens to me too but it's on Clay. I play on Indoor with some offensive baseliner like Tsonga or Berdych, if the CPU (i.e Tsonga) is in a controlling position, he hits quite hard and deep. And you can mod the CPU's Database or change his playing style to make CPU more offensive.

I change Nadal's playing style to offensive baseliner because I find him SO defensive in the game (different in real life). Yes we all know that Nadal won't give up on chasing every ball but you can notice that he's also very offensive from the baseline as well. I set his TopSpin, Forehand Power, Consistency, also his stamina and speed to high value. To me this is Nadal in real life, lol

I agree with the first poster about depth. I like to play close to the baseline and will be in control of the rally when all of a sudden the CPU will hit a hard shot that lands just on the baseline from WAY out of position. This would be fine if it happened every so often but it happens very frequently. Gabriela Sabatini does it all the time!!!!!! LOL! And it is a frustrating thing whenever you want more depth on your shot and you can't get it.
