General discussions about the 3rd edition of Tennis Elbow

Please Work On . . .

Postby q. reese » 06 Nov 2008, 10:45

Updating the game with:

1) the seed (as per the tournament) and ranking (as per the world) displayed by the player's score name.

2) Challenge system for incorrect balls.

3) Percentage for linemen to call the ball correctly in. Each linesmen will have a different percentage of correctly calling the shot in. Hence, if they are wrong, we can challenge!! :) Also, the linesmen can signal that he/she was unsighted.

4) The audience needs to look better, and their heads are not moving to the ball as the old version of TE 2004-2005 update showed.

5) The audience should have a feature where they "boo" you (like the French Open, etc.). The audience will "root" for you when you play the Davis Cup in your host country, etc.

6) The ranking for our game will go down if we do not play the game enough (like sign up for tournaments). Of course, this feature can be disabled for those who just do not have time to play a round every day.

7) May be some fan mail, or news updates.

8) Stats update during the match. Break points converted, Challengers remaining, number of aces, etc.

Once I see some additional changes, I will buy the game!! TE 2009, ALL THE WAY.

1) i don't think it's necessary. you can just see where they are ranked in the draw.

2) the linescalls are AI. it's 100% accurate. you can't challenge it.

6) that's how the ranking goes in real tour, as well as in the game. if you don't play enough, your rank will be lowered.

8) all of them can be seen in "match statistics" whenever you press "ESC" button.

you better buy it before request some more features bc IMO this game has enough cool stuffs it needs. (i don't mind if Manu wants to add more though).

Yes. However, $24.95 USD is a lot of money (factoring in the interest rates, inflation; and, of course, a bad economy that is well . . . BAD).

The only thing I see different is the 3D Mode and the added females' tour.

Too me, that is not enough to buy the game. I purchased the TE 2004 version of the game in 2005. I am not even entitled to a discount!! LOL.

That was $19.95 USD I spent for TE 2004. I am not ready to spend another $24.95 for basically the same game.

q. reese, you bought TE2004 in 2004 and then asked & got a refund for it. You then bought TE2005 in 2005 & kept it, and then got TE2006 for free. As u already got a major update for free, u can't get a discount on a new game from a 3-year old purchase...

And I wonder if u even played TE2009, coz it's surely an almost complete new game : new gameplay, new ball physics & new AI. I don't know what more u need to feel it's different from older Tennis Elbow versions which all shared the same gameplay, physics & AI with only a few tuning & improvements now & then.

And that's even without talking about the World Tour improvements...

Now about ur requests :
1- Rank is displayed in the players stat screen (F5, F6, ...)

5- I'll do this one someday (but it's a long process to gather all the good FX :? )

6- vaidisova is right

8- Done

The other ones have very low interest and I have many other more important things to do...

I think the challenge system would be a great improvement to the game. It would make it more realistic..

Okay buddy. There is no real need to defend yourself. Hehe.

I am just saying that I am not impressed with the game. You are incorrect for saying that I did not play the game. I did. Can you make the score board show:

1 (for the seed) 2(for the world rank) Roger Federer (the name)?

Again, $24.95 is a bit too much for this game. I will see if you improve on it. Then, perhaps, I may think about buying it.

I think that this is the feature that is the deciding factor for me purchasing the game!!

Also, please fix the audience's head moving to the ball. They are not moving their heads. Hehe. 8-)

Well all of these suggestions are secondary in importance...it is the actual tennis that matters most, right? And I think it is very well done, much better game mechanics than in TE06, or some other tennis games. I much rather buy a game that has this most important aspect right than a game with some moving heads. On top of that, there are nice new 3D graphics and quite a lot of new features as well. I don't feel like I wasted my money at all. I did carefully think if I want to buy it or not.
Of course, many of them are good suggestions and nice features, but to base your decision to buy the game on them is rather strange... :?

Any one would easily say thank you to something that favors them.

I am just giving my take on your version of the game, TE 2009. Apparently, you are not too happy to take some features into consideration?

I may be wrong?

q. reese, the problem is not about suggestions (look here to see a pinned suggestion thread that I read several times to create TE2009 : https://www.managames.com/Forum/forum1.php ), the problem is with your "strange" prioritization.

If for u TE2009 is the same game than TE2006, and only the Challenge System would make it different, then go to buy Smash Court Tennis 3 which has the Challenge System, at least u'd get a real new game & the Challenge System...

Okay. I am not attacking you or any thing. Hehe; after all, it is only a game. 8-)

I am just saying that the audience moved their head with the ball in the TE 2004-2005 edition.

Also, I would like to see this game with the challenge system (obviously, you would have to make the umpire and linemens with mishaps in judgement)!! Hehe.

q.reese, obviously you did not read the other post about the topic of the audience moving their heads as in TE06 because Manutoo clearly stated that it isn't cost effective (within his budget) to be able to implement this feature at this time. I think most of us feel that Manu has worked extremely long and hard on this version of the game and is constantly striving to give us the best offering that he can. I feel I speak for most of us subscribers that it is well worth the money and if you feel differently...well....you do have a choice.... p.s. Manu, it was me who asked about the solid color outfits :)
