Could the game be made more slower so that there is more competition in games online. Isnt it a bit boring when the top players win 6-0 6-0 6-0 and cover every court area? Same players seem to win all the time and or roughly the same. With slower gameplay and perhaps more harder to cover every area of the court would make the competition more competitive.

Manu...I must admit, I'm BAFFLED. I've been attempting to play on the world tour pro level 5 (without mtrun I might add :wink: ) In the qualies my player starts with everything set only to 10% while some of the other qualifying CPU players have their skills set to 70% or more in forehand, backhand or serve, etc :? While I THINK the idea here is to build up your skills by winning the tournament, how in the H__ do you compete against them when they're smacking the ball left and right with CRAZY power while you virtually have NONE!!! :evil: It's like being in a knife fight only you have NO knives. I tried to build up my player skills as best I can by borrowing from some of my other skills...for instance, since at that level unless volley skills are set to a high number you have NO chance at the net whatsoever ANYWAY. I don't feel the lob is much use against the volleyer's smashes so I borrow from that. If I borrow from my serve I get killed by the CPU's returns. If I build up my forehand and backhand I can only get about a maximum of 46% in power, consistency and accuracy...not good enough. Even to do THAT I have to take away from my speed, stamina or both. It's still a losing proposition. If the human qualifying players are to have a CHANCE to be competitive why must we start with such LOWLY skills, skills FAR below the competition? While I did struggle to a couple of match wins and I do mean STRUGGLE, it was wierd playing with virtually NO power, speed, or stamina. The player that beat me simply smacked the ball down my throat and I didn't have a chance. I mean 10 PERCENT?? Why not start a little more evenly with at least everything at 35% with the possibility of a higher cap than 40, 50% ...just to have a chance? Also, why not be able to build your skills with each MATCH win rather than having to win the WHOLE DARN THING before you have a chance to do so? IMO regardless of the level that you are qualifying in (club, junior, or pro) everyone should be more or less equal in skills. Of course some players will have a bigger serve, forehand, volley or whatever but you should be able to have a favorite go-to skill also to be competitive without draining all of your other skills, otherwise, what's the point in competing at that level at all? In real life one wouldn't try to get in a pro qualifying tournament with NO power, speed, endurance or other skills.... In open local AMATEUR tournaments you might see beginners having to play against seasoned players but you don't see beginners in the pro qualies, futures. etc. and IMO that's just what 10% is!!! :roll: If someone is shooting at me, I want bullets in my gun too!!! 8-)

Bbtaylor, I started the tour on junior sublevel 10, I played my first 5 tournaments on clay because my serve wasn't good, and I won without having to play again that 5 tournaments, it wasn't easy but it wasn't hard enough... Start playing on fast surfaces is a big fault :?

Santiago92...Thanks for the response. I'm a little uncertain about what you are saying. :scratch: When you said that you were playing on Junior Sublevel 10 and won your first 5 tournaments on clay without having to replay those 5 tourneys, where do you go from there? Do you continue to play at that same Junior Sublevel or do you progress to the next level ( Pro)? For example, if you were to win a certain amount of tourneys at Junior Sublevel, do the skills you acquire from winning go with you to the Pro level? Or do you start again at the beginning with skills set only to 10% ? When you say "it wasn't easy but it wasn't hard enough" I'm a little confused. Also, are you saying that since clay is a slower surface it's better for you when you have low serve skills than on fast surfaces like hardcourt? I've only been playing mostly against the CPU in training mode, so I'm trying to figure out how this world tour thing works :wink: p.s. I started the World Tour on club level, but I dominated all those matches (even the Madrid Masters TOTALLY trashing Federer, Djokovic and Monfils!) so I knew something was wrong and I must be at the wrong level!! :D

Bbtaylor, I played those 5 tournaments on Junior sublevel 10, and then I entered to the qualifying of Roland Garros so I set Pro sublevel 10. I lost in R2 of main draw against Jarkko Nieminen. The skills didn't go when I raise my level.

Yes, you understood well, I wanted to mean that because of low serve skills it is easier to play on clay. It's also easier to play on clay at first because as your stamina is bad, you don't have a lot of accelerations and you have to play with top spin (at least I did that), and top spin isn't as effective in fast surfaces as it's on clay.

Santiago92..Is there a required amount of tourneys that you must win at one level before you are allowed to move up to a higher level qualifying or is the decision totally up to you? p.s. I previously entered a hardcourt qualie at Pro Sublevel 10 and won my first round match 6-3,7-5 against a power baseliner, but what a struggle. I then won my 2nd round against a volleyer 6-0,6-1. It was in my 3rd round match that I got totally destroyed by a power baseliner with juiced up skills. It was as if I was playing the CPU on Incredible, so I see what you mean. I think I will try the clay court route 8-)

Manu...I was checking out the different World Tour levels ( club, junior, pro, master, incredible ) and noticed that the higher skilled your AI opponent is, the lower skills the human player has. I mean, INCREDIBLE gets to play against a player with skills starting at 5 PERCENT?! :( When I would play against Master and Incredible in Training Mode I would set my skills to 100% WITH mtrun and still get beaten. 5 PERCENT?!? :shock: Please explain how this works 'cuz I'm clearly not getting it :scratch:

@Candas :
I don't think making the game slower would change the scores much, it would only make matches more long...

@R.Gasquet :
Can u tell me what u did just before the bars disappeared ? If u find a way to reproduce the bug, I'd be glad to know it...

@btaylor :
1st, in Pro level, you don't start with 10%, but with 20% / per skill, with half of the points not distributed. U have to set them like u want. U can also lower some skills. All in all, u can start ur career with a FH at 40%, a BH at 25%, service at 30%, fitness at 40%, other skills at or near 0%. If u want to play at net, u can lower FH & BH a bit to raise ur net presence instead.
After, when u arrive on the tour, u're a fresh player, u're supposed to win a bit, lose often, learn & train urself up to reach the top. If you win everything right away, where's the fun ? :roll:
Just like in real life, some players are just stronger, u can't beat them, u have to raise ur technical level 1st.
If you don't like it like this, u can start the game as Junior to get more points to distribute at the start, and change right away the difficulty level in the 1st Match Opponent screen u'll get. You can also ask to start at the 300th rank, so u'll have more skills points to distribute.

In Master & Incredible, u get 10% / skill, so u can build a starting player with FH at 20%, a BH at 12%, service at 15%, fitness at 20% . With this, u already can beat the weakest players on the Tour (if u're good enough at playing TE). But u'll need more long time to train urself up to the top level.
Once again, high difficulty levels are for players who want high difficulty, so here they get it... Isn't that obvious..? :roll:
And if it's too hard for u, play on Pro level...

A quick stat to illustrate this : I started a Tour on Pro-10 level, at the week 32 of the 1st year, I'm already ranked 45th, and I won 47 matches and lost 18, and won 3 Challengers. That's almost too easy... ;)

Manu...Right now I'm not even REMOTELY interested in playing Incredible in World Tour. I only mentioned Master and Incredible because of the extremely low skill set that you have to start out with in qualies. Question here...If you don't win a whole tournament and you constantly lose in the quarters or semis how do you build up your skills? I understand now that you have to take your lumps in order to improve your skills but it just feels weird losing so much not because you don't know how to play, but because your skills are so weak...but I guess I'll just have to get used to it. :roll: Maybe in time I'll naturally advance enough where I have no choice but to play Incredible solely to keep challenging myself but right now that kind of blazing speed, quickness, and perfection hold little interest for me. :? It just doesn't seem realistic. Also...I notice that the AI at most levels can hit a slice on most surfaces that lands so short inside or around the service line and the ball just dies like a rotten peach...absolutely NO bounce! In most cases you can see that he has hit a slice, but you can hardly tell that the ball will land short and you often wind up reacting late and hitting a rather weak, uncentered reply. That's OK, but it would be really nice if we had a way to also hit that same kind of deceptive shot; the short biting slice ala Federer that could also be problematic for the CPU and/or online players. It seems that with the available strikes that we have to work with our slices only go deep into the court down the line, deep down the middle or deep crosscourt. Is there a way to hit this shot? If so, how? If not, would it be possible to implement it? (I know...challenges, challenges, challenges...) :wink:

btaylor, in Pro level, when u lose a match in the final draw u get 25 training points. That's about half of week of training. So playing a final draw every week & losing at 1st round already bring u enough training points to raise your skills significantly. But u get only 12 points when losing in qualies, so it's better to get to the final draw.
Also, if you pass the 1st round, u get 20 training points. So losing on 2nd round, that gives u a total of 45 points for the tournament. That's almost enough for a full week of training. If u pass 1 round in every final draw, u can play once every 2 weeks and raise ur skills significantly.
Of course, passing more rounds, and winning the tournament will give u more training points, but it's needed only when u want to play once every 3 weeks or something like that.

Else, u can do a short slice by preparing ur strike at the last moment. Then it can go every where, very short or too long. It's what the CPU does. When the CPU does this short ball, it's a good idea to step in and hit a winner, it's quite easy if u notice his strike early enough...

Manu...Do you mean that when the CPU hits that slice that it's random or without control? By that I mean if I attempt that slice I will have no control of where it will land short or deep or out of bounds...or can I hit it on purpose, depending on how I set up my strike?
