TE2009 : Beta 2

General discussions about the 3rd edition of Tennis Elbow

Postby stuey » 18 Oct 2008, 09:58

Hi Manutoo, I just have one little concern, actually I noticed that before but never said it.
When I play Tom Paulman, I don't see those little arrows where the ball should land when I hit it. Once when I was playing him on TE06, he told me that he sets his 'Preview' that way because he likes it better, but still I found it weird that I don't see the ball, too. I always had my Preview set to 'All'.
I played against him on TE09 also, and that was still the case. My preview is default, All+Danger Zone+Aiming, and I still didn't see where ball should land when I hit it.

Second thing, yesterday I played Blacky several sets, but we had to play through hamachi, because the ping was marching to infinity lol.

stuey, you're supposed to know where ur strike will send the ball, that's why the preview marker doesn't appear... :)
It appears only if your opponent set the preview mode to Rally or above as well.

Uhmm... Ok thx for the answer, but why? :)

Is it not possible that my opponent doesn't see the marker when playing against me but that I see it if I want to?

If that's possible, then I don't get the idea of not allowing me to see my precious preview marker :) just because my opponent doesn't want to see it.

Is the latest version Build 11 available for download? I tried downloading but it is still Build 10.

stuey, it's technically possible, but my idea is that the display is identical for both players (except players are inverted on up & down). So for example, u can know if ur opponent is using the preview or not (coz maybe it could have been a rule in the tournaments to not allow them)...

Brad1981, I didn't say the version was updated, so I didn't update it... ;)
Nothing much urgent for now, so maybe I'll update it on Monday...

Manutoo,

Good news (I hope). Even though the updated version isn't out, I tried what you suggested (changed my main Windows resolution to be 32 bits). Well, that corrected the screenshot issue. Something also corrected the detailed shadow issue, but I don't know what. I think that setting the Windows resolution to 32 bits fixed this, but then I stayed in the game and set the Windows resolution back to 16 bits, and the details remained. However, I exited the game and restarted it with the 16-bit external resolution, and the details went away. Then I set the Windows resolution to 32 bits and toggled the shadow option (to circle / apply / to detailed / apply), and they were detailed again. So, maybe that was it :) .

Thanks!

@Manutoo: well, ok. Although I would still prefer that I see what I want.

And what about cheats, eg. for big ball. If one player uses it, will his opponent see the big ball or normal sized ball? :)

Manutoo,

I tried to join Kyuuji's game, and was rejected ( :cry: ), so I then joined another player's game, and was accepted. In the game, the scoreboard had Kyuuj instead of CC, and when the game was over, the "Your name:" field on my system was listed as Kyuuji. I just changed it back to CC.

I guess Kyuuji and I do get to play. When I go into Warm-up now, the CPU player is named, "Kyuuj." :D

@Everybody :
Version updated :
- Name shouldn't change anymore when joining a game after have already played once or more
- No crash should happen when exiting the game from the Host wait mode
- Nadal shot tuned
- New camera mode : Constant Zoom
- Window resizing with Splitscreen On should be ok

@CC :
>> 16/32 bits
Maybe ur video drivers have a little trouble to report correct info depending of the current mode... :?

@stuey :
Yup, the Ball Size cheat is only shown locally, not on both PCs.
And before u ask, yes, the MPH/KHM setting applies only locally as well... ;)

Game still stops responding sometimes when aborting the hosting of a game and trying to go back to previous menu (it just happened thrice in succession).

Thanks for the update Manu. It was a nice surprise seeing it this afternoon. The new camera is implemented very nicely.
I hope you are rewarded very well for all your efforts. You have put so much time into this. I will try to find places to help spread the word for the game. :wink:
I hope u are not too tired from all the suggestions of mine. It is not every day that people are able to directly contribute ideas/communicate with creator of their favorite game. It is appreciated.
