Online Play

Postby solarisaint » 16 Oct 2008, 16:58

I had a match this morining I was hosting I believe the player was 007. when we went to connect it stayed in that connecting mode forever, then finally I try to back out then my screen just locks up,This happen twice and then finally It worked. That's the only online problem I've noticed. If you really want to get into detail, some connection are better than others like the ball traveling faster or slower. One thing Im sure of, firewalls mess with your connection. Also their is a typo in the online screen mode it says "waiting a player " as opposed to "waiting for player" :D

Yes this problem occurs quite sometimes.It says connecting and stays there forever.Sometimes it connects,sometimes it doesnt and it gets a bit annoying as we arent able to play so often online :?

Network

Postby solarisaint » 16 Oct 2008, 19:04

Im sure everything will be fine.
I think more than 50% of online gamming problems are firewall related that's why it's good to alternate hosting a game and joining a game also to remind each other about firewalls.
If you can't connect with someone keep in communication with them via the chatroom until they get the network bug handled. Billion Dollar gamming software companies can't figure this stuff out. Look at the upside their are some tought players in the game to beat.

Manu, I have a few more suggestions that I would like to mention before a potential final release.
How would you feel about having an additional play mode in addition to Simulation and Arcade? Such as that of a TE 2006-style of hitting the ball, where it doesn't matter if you hit the ball off center or not. Like in TE 2006, a player is able to basically hit 100% smooth no matter what position of the player/racquet.
Also, I like to keep Topspin at a relatively low percentage around 15% or less. But when using the topspin button, the topspin effect is not much different (if at all) from that of a normal shot. Would it be possible to modify the button topspin shot setting to make it work at lower percentages?
Lastly, in the Defender profile, it seems to have topspin built into it even when setting the Topspin to 0%. Just wondering if this was supposed to be intended or if it is a bug?

Manutoo,

The connections are better. At least I was able to play several games today without too much difficulty (connection difficulty, that is). There was one time out of maybe four that I had the Connecting... message, but this ended with Connection lost. However, just now, I had been hosting a game waiting for someone to join for about 28 minutes, and I decided to escape out of this and stop hosting. The program made the little beep, and then it just quit responding. This has been a common problem. So, things are better, but not as good as they once were with TE2006. ;) But I know you are working on it, and I am having fun with the game.
I checked my .ini file, and the Shadow option is set to "1." I am not sure why the detailed shadows don't display.

Thanks!

@Everybody :
Version updated :
- new connection protocol again, hopefully better than previous one (again ;) ) ; I also corrected the ping which is correct right away, so the auto-lag should be calculated correctly in less than a couple of seconds, so there's no need to wait too much before to launch the game
- I removed a network component that could be the cause of some troubles ; the downside is now u need to specify the server port when looking for local games (ie: for people playing with Hamachi & on LAN); but most of time, server will be on the default port, so it shouldn't be a problem
- top spin tuned for normal strike when having a low top spin skill

@Brad1981 :
>> additional play mode in addition to Simulation and Arcade
Humm nope, it would unbalance too much the current gameplay tuning.

>> topspin
yup, u were right, I corrected both problems.
When having a low top spin skill, I raised a lil bit the spin for the top spin strike, and lowered it a bit for the normal strike.

@CC :
>> Shadow
I finally figured out what was wrong.
U need to have a 32-bit display to get the shadows..!
(but I guess that most advanced 3D cards are able to do them with a 16-bit display, it's just coz ur 3D card is kinda old ;) )

@kyuuji :
Yup, TE2009 is a new game, and ur TE2006 key won't work for it... :roll:

kyuuji, no, u can pay only by debit/credit card, bank wire transfer ("virement bancaire), and check ( "chèque"), same than for TE2006.

Managames.com is slooooooowwwwwwwwwwwww to respond and load, and Server List is very slow to display. Connection test is very slow to respond. In general, for whatever reason, TE related web traffic right now has very much lag. My other traffic is fine, and this is with two computers.

Thanks for fixing that. Though, now when preparing the Nadal-shot real early, it can give extreme curvature. After I press b1, if I press up and down real fast in combination with left or right, it can give a really extreme curve. :oops:
Also, I just wanted to see how u felt about setting the zoom manually on the camera for Scrolling and Still angles (and having it stay put regardless forward/backward movement)? This may have got lost in all the topics recently...

Manutoo,

I tried the split screen just now, and all was fine until I maximized the window. Then, the display became such the the top and bottom view were identical:

Image

To reverse this, I opened the display options and toggled the split screen setting (auto / apply / on / apply) to get the normal split screen back. However, when I again maximized the window, the same problem happened. Also, you will notice that the court color is misplaced outside of the lines (before the maximization, all is fine).
The F11 screen capture does not work for me (just a reminder ;) ).

@Everybody :
The connecting process is more reliable with the yesterday version..?

The site was slow last night, due to some trouble on my Internet host, it should be corrected now.

@kyuuji :
En payant par la note de téléphone, le jeu reviendrait à quasi 2 fois plus cher (donc au prix normal, ça ferait presque 38 euros au lieu de 19..!)

@Brad1981 :
>>Nadal Shot with high Top Spin skill
I think it's same than before, but it's sure it's a bit too much, so I lowered it.

>>Zoomed Cam
I just figured out how to do it, so I added a new cam mode named "Constant Zoom"; but if u zoom a lot, u might end with no player nor ball on screen. It's not a very practical mode.

@CC :
>> split screen
Ok, I got & fixed the bug...

>> screenshot
try to set your desktop resolution to 32 bits, it may help to make it work...
