I installed TE2013 1.0b and bought a key a few months ago and I've been playing it offline. Absolutely love they game. But I now want to upgrade to the latest version and try some of the mods that I hear so much about. How do you recommend I update to the newest version (1.0c)? Do I use the latest demo installer, install to a new folder, then put the Key.txt in that folder? I'm wondering what the safest way to upgrade. Is it okay if I have two or more versions of TE installed at the same time? I was thinking of maybe even have 3 different versions installed at the same time, in 3 different folders: 1.0b, the latest version in case I wanted to play online, and a 3rd install to try some of the offline mods.

Is there any harm in keeping the old versions installed in case they are a little different gameplay-wise than the latest versions?

You should always have the last build of the game (you can update it here topic15-15603.php).
You can install it in a new folder with the whole installer or overwrite your already done instalation with the patch of 4,5mb and that will update your game.
About +1 installations, you can have +1 TE's installed if you don't open two at the same time.
Anyway, if you install mods in ''Mods'' foder, you can install multiple mods in 1 game just changing Mods.ini.

Thank you for that information. I wasn't sure how many different versions I can have installed at once. I'll try to manage it with just two:
a) the main TE2013 in Program Files (for official updates)
b) another install to a folder on C: for offline mods

I am learning about Mods.ini. If I decided use the uninstaller, will it uninstall both installations? And another question, if I run the patch in the future, will that only update the first install in Program Files?

The uninstaller, uninstalls the last version you installed FE: if you installed the mods version first, it will delete the updates one
Anyway, (as i said), you can have a online/updates version & mods in just 1 installation, just install the patch in Mods, when you want to play with patch, change Load line to the name of the patch. When you want to play online or with default version, just change the load line to <None> (All of this in Mods.ini).
You can update the game without hurting the patch, just install it in Mods Hope you can understand
