Test Version #3

General discussions about the 3rd edition of Tennis Elbow

Postby Algo » 26 Sep 2008, 15:51

second that, it'd be amazing that we could train serves, but just serves, so when trial period is over we won't have the problem that we can't train serves when we have to play an online match

@Everybody :
version updated :
- new mouse control : now there are cursors to control your movement & aiming... Let me know if you like it or not, if it's easier than before or not (of course, the legacy system is still available)

@Brad1981 :
>> I didn't think it could get better than TE2006, but I was wrong.

I think I should use this quote to do my press release... :P

@S.Williamz :
>> automatically stops hitting when the opponent's shot goes out

yes, as our player is automatically hitting the ball, he has to stop if the ball is out, else we'd need to get away of the ball, or use another button...

>> puncher, volleyer, etc.?

it's in the doc (although now it's still the one of TE2006, so it's not up to date)

>> how to hit all of the shots from in the game easily

not sure if it's what u meant, but I added the strike list in the In-Game Help.

>> [Aiming] Can the "jumping" be removed?

without it, it'll be extremely easy to aim when using the visual helper...
Also, like it is now, u're supposed to aim just before to strike the ball, to avoid to have to deal with the "jumping back"...

I'll do some test with a lower back speed...
What other people think about this point ?

>> online... huge amount of aces though

What settings ? Free mode ?
In TE2009, u should be able to return more easily when standing very far from the baseline, compared to TE2006.

@jenks10s :
>> Is there an exact release date yet?

End of october

@bbug :
>> just serving? & serve stats

Maybe I'll add that later, but it's not planned now...

@Algo :
When trial period is over, u're supposed to buy the full version... :roll:

- a "System.log" file has been created in "C:\Program Files\Tennis Elbow 2009\" or not
- there are some files in "C:\Users\[YourUserName]\AppData\Local\VirtualStore\Program Files\Tennis Elbow Manager" to "C:\Tennis Elbow 2009" or not
..?

Also, let me know if u have UAC on or off, and if u noticed anything special during the installation process...

Yes manu, that's exactly what I meant, the in game help. It's really helpful. :)

About aiming(sorry if I write vaguely, I have noticed you have problems comprehending the mess I write lol):

I understand what you mean that it might be too easy to aim without the jump, I just figured that if you want the challenge, you have the choice not to use the aim help, and maybe in online games it's not allowed at all. Also, since you have to concentrate on many things while playing, that also makes it harder to aim.
But maybe less jump would work as well, instead of totally removing it. Now it's just annoying because most shots go to the same spot, a meter or two away from the lines, because it's so difficult to aim. No matter if you press longer or shorter time, the ball goes to almost the same spot. It's not terribly exciting, lol. It would be better I think if you could affect where the ball lands more easily, now there are basically only three shot types, the shot that "jumps" away from the lines(90% of non-error shots are these), the shot on the line, and error.

As you can see, I'm really hoping some tweaking to this lol(nothing that dramatic, but still), otherwise the game is looking VERY good. :D

Is the aiming "jump" tuned in the newest version? Because aiming feels really different, and really great! lol

Oh yeah that is right lol...yeah I'm getting the hang on the whole thing now actually...also returning, not so many aces anymore on fair mode! lol
Just wanna say despite all of my million complaints I think the game is really coming together and it's already more fun than TE 2006 ever was! :D

There seems to be something wrong when hitting a forehand crosscourt dropshot...the shot always goes to the center, never cross court...is it just me? I don't have this problem with backhand dropshot.

Yeah but that's left-handed...there's a problem if you hit forehand crosscourt dropshot when righthanded, and backhand crosscourt dropshot when left-handed. The ball never goes crosscourt.
