Test Version #3

Postby manutoo » 25 Sep 2008, 16:09

Hello,

here the Test Version #3 :
www.managames.com/download.php?TennisElbow2009_ft3.exe [ ~13MB ]

The purpose of this Test Version is to test :
- the customization of your player (skills & outfit)
- the double
- the online mode

The "Training Club" part is now 90% done, with the gameplay & AI nearly 100% done (some tuning or extra stuff may still be done :) ).

Main missing things are :
- detailed shadows
- scoreboard background + names

For online games, I capped the serve power to 60% & 80%, according to the lag.
It may be needed to cap also the FH & BH powers, this test version should let us know that...

As there's a bunch of new stuff since the last version, it may have some nasty bugs left (I just corrected a few of them :? ), so don't hesitate to let me know about them..!

Nice player customization setup.
Tho, there is no option for the color black in any of the clothing. Could you please include?

edit: first impressions (10 min of playing): I like. Cpu errors seem reduced on Level 1. I Like the showumpire, showerror, and mtrun params in the .ini.

Brad1981, lower the Saturation and u'll get White / Grey / Black depending of the brightness...

You can also use "Invert" to transform White in Black (and vice & versa).

Oh ok thanks. For the mtrun, what would the default settings be when it is turned OFF? I would like to start off at normal speed and experiment by raising the numbers to the desired setting. Would the normal setting be 0 or 1 for maxspeed and accel?

Brad1981, 1.0 & 1.0 ..! ;)

Add this line, under [Game] :
FastRun = 1
to have it on all the time.

Great! Yea I have accel at 1.75 but I lowered the maxspeed down to 1.0 (normal)...perfect for me.
I'm very happy :)
Everything is looking really great. Tho, I am sure I will have another recommendation or two before all is said and done  Perhaps on volleys...but I will get to this later. I appreciate the customizations and params.
This game is really fun with the new shots and ball trajectories. It is very realistic. I didn't think it could get better than TE2006, but I was wrong.

Do you think it's necessary that your player automatically stops hitting when the opponent's shot goes out? Maybe if you had to evaluate the shot yourself and not hit if you think it goes out?

Also, what is the effect if you choose puncher, volleyer, etc.? Maybe you could put a little help screen for example if you put your mouse over the button, it shows what the effect is.

Adding...I think you should be able to find out how to hit all of the shots from in the game easily, and not having to dig the information from some files. :D

Manutoo, replying here about the aiming...

In my opinion the bad thing about the aiming is the fact that it sort of jumps back, which can be seen if you use the aiming helper. You press a button certain time until the the helper is on the line, and you suppose it stays there, however after you stop pressing, the aiming jumps back to far away from the lines...it's really frustrating. Not only you have to take into account the pressing time, but also that crazy jump, which makes it almost impossible to learn the timing correctly. Can the "jumping" be removed? It would be so much better without it.

So I played with BlackyM online...it was fun, we had tight matches...huge amount of aces though! Maybe that needs tweaking, or we just have to get better at receiving. lol

probably receiving is the problem

it was fun...although I lost every single match (8)...last 7-6

I cannot say what need to be tweaked, because I'm just beginner in this game, so probably I'm doing mistakes often...so I'll give my opinion in about few days...

Serving

Postby bbug » 26 Sep 2008, 15:09

Manutoo,

Are we going to be getting an option to practice just serving?

Also, could serve stats be included with the match statistics? Like fastest serve, average serve speeds etc?

Otherwise, it looks excellent!
