Test Version #1 + Preview #3

General discussions about the 3rd edition of Tennis Elbow

Postby manutoo » 31 Jul 2008, 18:13

@Everbody :
I have updated the test version again so now you can change of court (but you'll always _see_ the blue-green cement); to be sure it's working, try the grass : the rebound should much lower than on cement..!

@Serena_Fan :
I changed the display to MPH according to the option set.

You think the big red/green thing is ugly ? or something else ?

About short & everything, you'll have either to figure out by yourself, or wait for the final version with the menus... :)
Shoes, Short & Shirt number varies from 1 to 10, though...

Are 3d courts a possibility in future versions of the game, or are they much too hard to make?

yup, 3D courts are definitively a possibility for the future, but really not sure when, it'll depend of budget... Maybe for TE2010... :P

And I think the big red/green is to help us to shoot in the court

Well basically that big red green marker is for avoiding errors by hitting into the net or outside.If you stand in the green zone and hit then you will mostly not hit into the net or outside ...if you are in the red zone then you will most probably hit it into the net and the yellow zone is that you wont hit a gr8 shot but a average shot...so that marker helps you to postions yourself before hitting shots

I've tested the game, first and second I lost easly. But when you get used, its all right. I did 3 matchs, and I won it 6-0 6-3 and finnaly 6-1

I didn't test the other court. I like the game and I don't have so much things to tell. I'll just talk about 2 3 points

1) The slice. I think its more realistic if the player can cut the ball when he run, specially on his backhand. You can do it but when you don't move.

Here is a video, if you dont understand me:
http://www.youtube.com/v/sXXM3I9E4E8&hl=en&fs=1

2) I have so much difficulty to take ball at the net, most of them goes out. I've try hard shot, normal and slice, but 3 of them are very hard to control. So if somebody can explain how do I do good net points

3) Can we increase the level, and the power shot of the computer. I've beat once the computer 6-0 and it ask me if I want a more difficult computer. But does it works ?

Thats all, its still a beta, and the game looks like wonderful. Congrats manutoo

@Everyone :
I updated the Test version once again.
- I tuned the sliced serve, coz it was too weak, now it's working great (a bit too great actually, the AI has big trouble to return it :P )
- I tuned the end of the forehand anim, it should look a bit more natural now

@fox :
1- you can slice when running, but the slice animation will only be played when u start to slice early enough, so when the ball is sliced enough

2- I'll answer this soon but not right now... :)

3- I think it should work, but the difference isn't very big, coz it's a simple AI. Now, "[TrainingClub_p2] - Level" should be on 2 in your Tennis.ini ; you can try to put it to 1.

@TTennisfan :
No mod planned for network now... I'll see later about it.

I think it's already almost easy to add a new court, but it probably won't be possible to mod the existing courts...
