How to play a short slice?

Postby campa100anni » 11 May 2013, 13:15

CPU a lot of times wins point by playing a short slice which i never understand its gonna be short and always touch after the second bounce. I just started my career mode and at the Australian Open, 2nd round, im facing Rafael Nadal. Of course I have no chance of winning the game by hitting winners from the baseline (its only my second career year, im 42 ranked definetly too weak to beat nadal from the baseline), so id like to try some short slice to force him to come to the net as he doesnt have a great volley. But to do that I need to hit some short shot, like short slice. How do you hit short slice?

You have to push slice ? drop shot ? slice ...

Kind regards,

thanks mate, omg its pretty hard to do. i tried it a few time in my match against nadal but i missed every single time (maybe even because nadal's topspin forehand is not the best shot to pratice on), a lot of long slices, some awfull drop shot, no short slice. i guess i'll have to pratice more lol

It used to be more useable until Manu decided to change the key sequence.

I did this, but only succeeded with some players, for others, they always slice too deep or on the baseline :(

It's better now believe me, the early version was like a faintshot, because you had to combine topspin with slice. It was like hitting topspin shot and before shot he slices the ball :D . This version is great because slice and dropshot have the same motion. To hit a good shortslice you need to be in perfect positioning, or else the ball will go too far. (and this works against Nadal perfectly)

That's true, but that depends of the stats of the player, that makes the game more realistic

I believe it depends on the players topspin, the more topspin, the more harder the short slice. I could be wrong tho
