New Doubles Ranking- 19

Next Tournament will be the Australian Open. Took a brief look at the Australian Open and I’m the 29th Seed in singles with a tough section of the draw. My second round match can be against Florian Mayer who I lost to once. Third Round could be against (5) James Blake who I’m 0-2 against and only won 9 games in the 2 meetings. Round of 16 could be against (10) Ivan Ljubicic. Quarterfinals could meet (4) Tommy Robredo or (19) Lleyton Hewitt. Don’t want to even look at the rest of the draw because it could get super depressing see how my road would get. Good thing my goal for now is to only get to the second week. In doubles Jeff and I are the 7th Seed. In the same Quarter as Paes/ Knowles and same half as the Bryan Brothers.

Personally, I plan on starting the game with a created character (based on myself of course ':D ) who turns pro in 2006 (the year I graduated college). The idea is that he will be discovering the pro tour at the same time I am discovering this game, and I'll see how far I can get before my character gets too old and has to retire.
Any suggestions on difficulty? Pro 10? Master 1? How do I decide my starting ranking and stats? How do I improve my stats over time?

Of course, the first thing I'll have to do is figure out what mods to get. Seems like there's a lot of choices and no easy way to find them. It could take me hours and hours just to get the game up and running the way I'd like. Makes me nervous.

Well if u are new to the game , dont start on Master :D , may be start Pro 1 ? And then try to advance to higher level. You can start number 1000 if u want or 300 idk. Also , my advice is to choose and play power baseliner , the game is just best when you play that way ! You will get the most achievments trophys, etc.

Well, as you could read in my previous message, I had to re-downloadthe game with the sam patch...
I decided to create my own player, who is called Daniele Spadi, comes from Italy and its a various player (My real play stile, 'cause I play tennis :D). My stats are about 35/40% in all the strokes; only my favourite stroke, the 2H backhand, is at 50% stat... it will be a very nice carreer, and i will start with the qualifies of the Germany F1, first future of the year! Like the previous carreer, I will play at Master 1 difficult.
Hope you'll like my carreer :D

P.S. Glad to see another people in this topic. Welcome!

Here i am and i continue my career.... CIncinati !!! The court is amazing , suits me very well , i've also made on chance, redownloaded Tennis ELbow , cause i was playin with 1.0e version , changed to 1.0f with SAM MEGAPATCH and it was better. So i beat paire in second round 7/6 6/4 , then Had an easy match against fognini 6/4 6/4 (dont look the result , i was confident i will win :D ). Theen what a suprise GULBIS beat DEL POTRO and faced me in 1/4 finals :D . He is so unpredictable and i looked to finish the match quickeri can... because if he starts playing good i am done :D. Beat him 6/2 6/4 , and saved arround 10 break points in the second set :D. Then the semi's were

Djokovic - Nishikori
Me - Murray

You know i struggle against top 5 , top 6 guys (Nadal , DJokoo, Del potro , Fed , Murray , Wawrinka), but this time murray done too much errors and i was like a wall (as i said court is perfect for my game). Beat him 6/3 7/5 and advanced to my first MASTERS FINAL . Another suprise NISHIKORI beat djokovic AGAIN ! He beat him one time at the AO i think . And i started dreaming , cause nishikori is extremely good , but he is not djokovic. Anyway first set was pretty even , he broke me just one time when he had chance , in my first game of serve. And i've lost 3/6. Then i started the second set on fire , hitting winners . LEd 1-0 , then he saved 2 BP and got 1-1. Then i led 2-0 , he saved 5 BP and again made it even 2-2.We both played well until 5/5. Then i had chances again 1 BP , but unfortunately he won the point again. And yes we went ot tie-break where i was concentrated on MAX , but he won 7-1 in tie-break ... So difficulty stays pro 8 :D if i had won i would higher it to pro 9 , but i've lost. Now í've reached career high ranking of 6th (maximum for now). Nadal is 5-th 3500 points ahead of me. The top 5 are unreachable for the moment :D. I think i've qualified for the finals , i am ahead 1200 points to the 9-th Nishikori. Starting my Us open now. Got an ... easy draw i can say :D. 1st round against D.Evans , 2nd i got Sisling. THird - Sousa/Anderson. 4-th round Verdasco/Gasquest (verdasco could be tricky , at least it was on the IW and MIAMI masters i've lost there.) Potential 1/4 final against Federer (or G.Dimitrov :D , but i dont believe it). Aand semi's against Nadal/Del Potro/RAonic... Well that is for now

Yeah, I thought about doing some serve/volley but not too sure how well that would work on this game.
I think I'll start on Pro 5 and begin my career at the lowest rank possible. Will be interesting to see how long it takes before I start playing Tour-level events.

Could someone kindly point me to the direction of the SAM Megapatch and any other patches/mods I might need in order to get the best experience from this game?

Hey Arvis ;)

Believe me, you should start on lower level, it's very different than Top Spin or Virtua Tennis ! If i remember well, I'd started on junior 1, and played a lot on pro level, this is the most complicated level "to beat" if i may say. Simulation controls are a good way to start too.

SAM Patch is incredibly good, you can find it and the instructions to install it here : topic29-11173.php
The last update is the end of the 2013 season, I think. But if you want, you can change every kind of players' stats etc...It's very simple.

SO BEGINS THE CAREER OF........ Arvis Jaggamar, of Iceland!

Basically, I started in the middle of the calendar year and have just been trying to qualify for Futures tournaments. I have yet to qualify. At one point, I ran into Olaksandr Nedovyesov, who bageled me.

I think I might put the difficulty WAY down until I get enough points to improve my player. I'm starting off with AWFUL stats, and it's only made worse by my being pretty terrible at this game. Sometimes my player will just whiff on a ball because instead of cutting a deep ball off and hitting a half volley, he'll try and run backwards to chase it down, which has never worked and just led to him swinging and missing every time. And I don't know how to make him stop doing that. Other times, he just won't even move for the ball; the opponent will hit it and I try to move the player and he stands there for a half second before he starts moving, so of course I don't get there. I'm wondering if there is a stat I can boost that will help him in this area.
Also, I think I would have a little more fun if I could "cheat" somehow and just bump my stats up a bit. I feel like I am a LONG way from even winning a Futures tourney, much less a Challenger.

Began a Kei Nishikori career. Starting on Junior 5, Sim controls.

In Nishikori's first professional tournament (A Futures tourney I can't remember the name of, Lithuania maybe?), he successfully qualified for the main draw and then won his first round match! In the second round, however, he ran into some Brit named Jamie Baker and lost 6-4, 6-4. Kei was up 3-0 in the second set but suddenly Baker could do no wrong and was hitting lines and corners all over the place, even off my first serve. Plus, Kei was getting tired and toward the end of that set his groundstrokes simply lost a lot of their pop.

Gameplay-wise, I noticed I am struggling to return serve, sometimes. Even with the indicators, it's kind of hard to get my guy moving in the right direction. Still, I am having a blast and hoping to get better and better as I level up his stats.

Great to hear about your careers guys, and welcome to Arvis, love your enthusiasm for the game! :D

My 2006 journey continues then. Having lifted the title in Beijing I competed in Shanghai and was faced with a tough draw, having to play 3 players in a row who had all beaten me recently. I managed to dispatch Mikhail Youzhny 6-3, 6-3, then beat Ivan Ljubicic 6-4, 6-2 to reach the QFs. Unfortunately Davydenko was too good and I lost 2-6, 3-6.
I took a break before moving to Paris Masters. I started shakily, but won my first match against L Friedl 7-6, 6-0, then beat JC Ferrero 6-2, 7-6. Great win for me because Ferrero has been a very tough opponent before, especially on fast surfaces. I then defeated David Ferrer 7-6, 7-6, in a very close QF before dismantling Ljubicic again in straight sets 6-4, 6-2 to reach the Paris Final for the 2nd time to face Federer! Unfortunately, Federer was on fire at the end of the season - he has beaten me 3 times in the space of 2 weeks! He won the Paris final 4-6, 6-4, 2-6, then beat me easily in the Round Robin of the 2006 Masters Cup/WTF 3-6, 2-6. I managed to beat Davydenko in 2 close sets, 6-4, 7-5 and then destroyed Tommy Robredo 6-1, 6-1 to win 2/3 RR matches and advance to the WTF semis. In the semis I crushed Nadal 6-0, 6-1 who was in bad form, before once again losing to Federer in the final 4-6, 6-3, 3-6. Federer had won 6-0 sets against everyone else in the tournament though - I was the only person to win a set from him :)
I finish 2006 with a 64-12 W/L record, ranked No. 2 on 10,045 points (Federer has 10,500 and Nadal at no. 3 has 9,610. Roddick at 4 has 5,500 - so very far behind!)

I now enter Sydney 250 tournament (I won in 2005 and 2006) as preparation for the 2007 Australian Open (where I need to defend my title again)! I've upped the level to Master 7 now, so we see how this goes

Roland Garros - 2005, 2006
