I love this game but.... [Balance Issue in World Tour ?]

Postby SDAWG » 05 Jan 2013, 17:22

This game is awesome but playing the World Tour can be frustrating!!!

1) I can't beat Conchita Martinez.
2) I can't beat Gabriela Sabatini.
3) I can't beat Helena Sukova.

but

I routinely whip Graf, Seles, Navratilova! I like this to some degree but it is horrible that I am more afraid of playing the early round matches than the finals, semifinals.

And! I am tired of having 5-2 leads just to see my serve completely disappear and the computer all of a sudden become a winner machine. I then lose 7-5 every time LOL!!! It's funny because I start off hitting winners and then when we are both tired the computer seems to go for broke and win.

Also, it doesn't seem to matter how early you take the ball sometimes. I can be almost at the net and the computer runs everything down from alley to alley and then miraculously hits a winner. It's ridiculous.

That being said. I love this game. LOL!

I wouldn't say I am losing my nerve whenever my player goes from averaging let's say two double faults to hitting four in a game! I think it is interesting that the computer never/rarely hits double faults no matter who the player is and I can hit multiple double faults in a game. And you know when these double faults creep into the game? When it's 5-2 or 4-4 or some pivotal moment. It just seems to happen randomly and I wouldn't mind it if it also happened to the computer players too. What seems to happen to them is in these tough moments they become Serena Williams and hit aces and winners at will. If it were Graf, Seles, or Navratilova I would kind of accept it but Sukova or worse AMY FRAZIER!!!! That's horrible lol.

SDAWG,
do you play with the latest version ?
What level of difficulty are you playing with ?

Else :
- CPU doesn't cheat
- use B2 to avoid double faults (with up/down to push your opponent away)

I am playing with the latest version and I play on Pro 1. Since last posting I lost AGAIN to Sukova. I was up 5-2. Again suddenly, I started making errors left and right and Sukova was hitting winners everywhere. It also seem like my shots started losing power (or maybe it just feels that way whenever everything from Sukova is a winner lol) and depth and my stamina bar was just fine. Another thing I have noticed is that double faults happen frequently on deuce or game points. I hate this when I am trying to stay in the match lol. Is there a courage meter I am missing lol. Again, I am okay with the challenge of the game and even great comebacks and I even like the errors (since there are more errors than winners in real tennis most of the time) but whenever I am the only one making errors or certain players play unbelievable and the champions don't it's confusing.

SDAWG,
if you don't use B2 for your 2nd serves, then the double-faults are totally random ; you'll notice them more on important points, though, as it's when they will hurt you the most.

Okay. Well that's cool as I am not looking for 100% second serves in either. But something has to be done to balance this out on the computer side too. If the double faults are random and I can hit three in a row, then we should see this from the CPU more frequently too. I understand better servers not hitting as many double faults but when you go up against poor servers and they are hitting aces all the time or winners on big points that's a problem. It makes it challenging but it is not fun being the only person on the WTA Tour that hits double faults. Equally important is the difficulty in hitting aces. I have only hit maybe 3 in my entire career. Even off of luck I would expect there to be a few more. I get aced even by the worst servers at least once per match. The same is true with wrong footed winners. I get wrong footed all the time but even when I am sure I have wrong footed the computer I only see them somehow dash over and not only hit the shot but an impossible winner. Again I know this happens but all the time LOL!! Again I want to emphasize that I love this game and you guys are doing a great job.

CPU uses a slightly-risker-and-faster-than-B2 serve, which leads to very seldom double faults (about a couple per match).
If you use B2 2nd serves, you'll be the only WTA player to not hit double faults (assuming you don't do left/right aiming error ;) ).

If it's too hard for you to hit aces => topic15-10079.php .

Wrong foot : CPU stops to run just before you hit the ball (you should try to do the same as well), that's why it's hard to wrong foot him ; step inside the baseline to raise your chances to wrong foot him.
