XBox360 controller sensitivity

Postby SC Tom » 04 Dec 2012, 18:32

I'm running TE2011 (full version, not the demo) on a Win7 machine, using an XBox360 controller for player movement.
Most of the time, it works just fine (I have the MS driver installed), but occasionally it will become extremely sensitive. I can hit a cross-court shot, and it will land in just fine. Next shot, it just flies wide. Once it happens, almost every cross-court shot goes wide. If I exit the game and come back into it, it works fine. But then, later in the game, it'll start doing it again.

What I'd like to know is if there are any settings in tennis.ini under the proper joystick settings that can be added or changed to make it less sensitive? It's not like I'm hitting the ball in stride and yanking it wide. This even happens on shots where I am in position, waiting for the ball. I even wait until the last moment to aim the ball and it still goes wide. It's not an "all the time" effect, but it's hard to win a game when nothing lands in :(

Thanks for any help that anyone can give!

Try to calibrate your gamepad with Xpadder for example. It will be fine.

I'll give that a try and see what happens. Not sure what the advantage of it is though. I'll let you know what happens.

Thanks.

EDIT: The last free version only supports through Vista. I ran it in compatibilty mode, and it's kinda quirky, so sorry, that didn't do it.

Thanks anyhow, though.

SC Tom,
your analog stick sensitivity doesn't matter : the game treats it as a digital pad, so it either full moves or doesn't move at all, there's no in-between.

You should test the game in warm-up mode with aiming preview on, it might help figure out what's going on.

Don't forget the closer you stand to the net, the faster it is to aim left/right.

Thanks for that; I forgot that was how it worked.

I'll try warming up first; it may just be me (What?!? Moi?!? I don't think so LOL :D ).

Thanks for your reply! I'll live with it, I guess. After all these years, it's still my favorite game. :applause: :applause:
