Miguel, unfortunately this result will not count, as it is so close, if you had a lead and were serving for the match and he quit it would count. But if this happens many times, I will count it.

But, I have to say TTennisfan/Ro.Federer, none of the reason you posted as a reason for quitting the match are proper reasons...first of all, don't you lose a ton of ELO if you quit? So your reasons don't make sense...It is really childish to quit a match because you don't wanna lose it. Really.
Also, calling someone worthless and that playing him is boring on the forum is really out of order...I really don't care what you say to each other outside the forum but here please have a nicer tone...

This really is not a reason for banning you from the ladder because this is the first time there has been a problem like this, I hope in the future it won't happen again!

I hope you two can play a match and finish it so that I can have a head to head between you two!

Thank you! lol

Well, the way i see it (and the way real tennis is played) a retirement equals a victory to the other player. I think this is pretty obvious... Even if a player is winning 5-0 and serving for the match, if he retires, the other player should get a win. But anyway, do what you wanna do, still Ro.Federer CHEATS, ADMITS to doing so and GETS AWAY WITH IT, so all is good, right? I guess your rules seem to be based on your own judgement and, so, are not exactly rules but yet "undifined principles" (if a player gets 5-0 and serving? but what if he's winning 5-0 and NOT serving for the match? and what if it's 4-0?? If it happens to many times? what do u mean? if ro.federer does it 5 times or 50? so i guess any player can do it at least once and get away with, cause otherwise it will be unfair to him?)
Anyway, i rest my case.

I am at 100% sure + serious that I only retired with you for «cheating like u call» only with u, other time was with M.Safin for kidding like when it's for ex:30-15 for him and he knows that I'm joking or When i play with chiller it's becuz that it isnt the right player who's serving (when we restart) , so u must swallow ur words  If u don't know somethig
Thanks

get a life, i don't care what you do with other players, everyone might as well suck your thumb, i couldn't care less. but don't think you can mess with me like that, you CHEATED and you SAID IT. so there's no excuse for that, like Serena Williams said before. Go have some pizza, ok? BYE!

First of all Miguel, I am trying to do my best job with the ladder so no need to get angry with me. I have recently created so many new rules such as the whole scoring system, so I can't keep up with everything. But as new issues rise I hope to make more defined rules.
I can see your point. And therefore, I'm going to alter the rules about this a bit. Here goes:
There is a reason, why I don't want to count all retirements as victories. This is because, sometimes players have connection failures and other reasons they just must quit. I don't want to "punish" for these reasons. The most ideal situation would be if players actually did finish these unfinished scores...So the new rule is, players should finish a started match within the month it was started, after that the retired player loses the match.

So, sorry Ro.Federer, unless you and Miguel finish that match till first of June it will be a win for Miguel. I'm sorry about changing my mind but this new rule about dealing with retirements is here now to stay. :D

And please all, chill and be nice.

I will define the rule more:

If the retired player retired while having a lead of 3-0, 4-0, 4-1, 5-2, 5-1, 5-0, the match doesn't count as retirement, and the opponent should not post that he/she beat the retired player.
Also, if the score is 0-0, 0-1, 1-1, 2-1, 2-2, 3-2, or 3-3, and neither player has a break nor breakpoints, and the other player retires, the opponent should not post the score.

I hope these situations don't happen though, lol.

Manutoo, just in case, can you also see what the score was in an unfinished game, in the log? Like if it was 40-15 etc.?

Results(June)(post here!)

Postby S.Williamz » 31 May 2008, 22:54

Some guidelines for result posting :D :

When posting a result, please use only one name, and if you have a ranking(in the official ladder rankings, not race rankings), use the name you have in the ranking.

Also put your ranking(official ladder ranking) and your opponents ranking after the names, like this:

Example: Rafael Nadal(2) def. Novak Djokovic(3) 6-4

Results that do not have the correct format will not count.

If you do not have a ranking then of course you won't put a ranking after your name.

The way to get a ranking is to beat a player who has a ranking in the "Official Ladder Rankings" thread.
