2018 Calendar

Postby MichaelTA » 27 Nov 2018, 20:39

Below is my 2018 calendar for Tennis Elbow Manager 2. It has all tour events and challenger events accurate to the 2018 ATP World/Challenger Tour, as well as approximately 3-5 ITF Futures events per week accurate to real life. Some extra features/changes compared with the base game files include:

1) Correct number of players in each ATP tournament draw and in World Tour qualifying draws
2) Full 3rd sets in doubles matches at World Tour level
3) Best of 5 sets at Masters 1000 finals in singles, and in Grand Slams in doubles
4) Accurate to real life prize money (which may result in unbalanced gameplay)
5) ATP Challenger Finals (kind of, it's basically the World Tour Finals with the players being up to world number 60)
6) Editing of some tournament names (e.g. "UK Slam" is now "Wimbledon")
7) 5 types of Challenger and 4 types of Futures tournaments (default is 3 and 1 respectively), with accurate points distributions
8) Largening of Futures qualifying draws and shrinking of all doubles qualifying draws, to resemble real life
9) Editing of TopPresence, TopTopPresence, and TopTopRank for tournaments to closer resemble real life (fine tuning may be required)
10) Correct surfaces for each tournament (Although cement and blue-green cement may be opposite to real life, as are indoor hard and indoor carpet)
11) Conversion of all prize money in UK tournaments to GBP (might as well use the feature if it's there)

What I have not changed and do not intend to change any time soon:

1) Junior and Women's Tour
2) CustomHud information for tournaments
3) Player bases

How to install:

1) Download the attached file below
2) Copy the folder into your Tennis Elbow Manager 2 directory, inside the "Mods" folder (remember to decompress the file)
3) In the TEM2 directory, find the configuration settings file named "Mods" and change the "Load" row to

Load = <All>

The "Load" row can also have the value of "2018Calendar" to activate the mod, and "<None>" to deactivate the mod (without the speech marks).

Note: Any feedback would be appreciated on the calendar if any mistakes/bugs are found, which are very possible considering I originally made it from the original TEM tour files and just fixed/changed a few things that I found whenever copying the files into TEM2. Also feel free to take the folder and edit it however you want to, it doesn't bother me. And Manutoo if you want an updated Challenger base feel free to take it from here if you like it, although I don't know if you're looking for one for TEM2/TE4.

PS: I am aware that cj1984 has also made a 2018 calendar and posted it in the past few days, but I decided that I might as well upload mine anyway seeing as I had almost completed it before I found out about his. It was quite a coincidence.

Your file is looking good, so I will stop working on Challengers. Also thanks for updating the category file.

Maybe i will start working on WTA Tour soon.

Thanks. Feel free to use it.
I didn't include all challenger categories as most point values duplicate (i.e. there are 2 sets of prize money for some categories of challenger event, depending on if hospitality is offered or not). I didn't see any way to include hospitality at a particular tournament in TEM, so I decided to just go with the prize money values for tournaments offering hospitality in real life, as they give all ranges of points (apart from R16 points for Challenger 80s which vary with hospitality being offered or not).

Update:

1) Fixed a couple of small name/surface issues
2) Added Dominican Republic F3 (it was meant to be added first time around)
3) Removed final set tiebreaks from World Tour Finals and Challenger Finals
4) Made Olympics fully best of 5 sets instead of only finals (like it was in 1988 and 1992)
5) Removed champions tiebreak final sets in challengers and futures
6) Changed the futures tour so that players can only enter qualifying for $25,000, €22,500 and £20,000 events if they have the necessary ranking
7) Changed numbers related to doubles qualifying at grand slams (it is now what it was for Wimbledon this year in real life)
8) Added champions tiebreak final sets for all junior events, except at grand slams (just to keep that feature in the game somewhere, it may be undone at some stage though if I decide to edit the junior tour properly)

Note: This will invalidate any save files using the previous version of the mod.

Update:

1) Tweaked the numbers regarding BestPlayer, TopPresence, TopTopPresence, and TopTopRanking in most events
2) Added final set tiebreaks back to the masters events in Canada and Cincinnati
3) Made Olympics a 128 draw in singles (to make it last 2 weeks for better balancing of best of 5 set matches all tournament)
4) Added the PlayDayS and PlayDayD fields to the tournament categories (may be edited again soon, but it doesn't invalidate save games when I change it)
-This has lots of variation between the different types of world tour, challenger and futures events, so I won't go into detail here as it would take a new post to list what has been changed
5) Made the Masters 1000 (doubles), TET500 (singles), and Challenger Finals events will use a best of 5 set final (I doubt I will add any more 5 set matches to or remove final set tiebreaks from the men's tour at this point)

Please let me know if any system errors occur with this build as it is possible that the PlayDay fields could cause issues, although I think I removed all of the errors by this point.

Note: This will invalidate any save files using the previous version of the mod.

2) Redone Davis Cup play days

This will not invalidate saves as far I I'm aware

Update:

1) Fixed the country for the Cherbourg challenger
2) Added the Slovakia F1 futures event
3) Fixed Masters 1000 qualifying for singles

To be honest, I meant to post this update a while ago, so there are probably some small changes I don't remember, but the Masters qualifying was the main one.
(This will invalidate any saves already created)

yiph2,
no, as it uses the new stuff from TEM2 (eg: Olympics).

I'm assuming this will work with TE2013 if it works with TEM1.

I originally made the calendar for TEM1 then modified it to fit TEM2, so I just took the original and fixed a couple of the mistakes I mentioned on my changelog, but I probably left some names/countries uncorrected so sorry about that, although it shouldn't matter too much.

Hey MichaelTa,

I want to start making a 2019 calender, including realistic Futures. Are you ok with me using your files as base for this work?

Feel free to.

Just bear in mind that it would be very awkward to make realistic Futures events (well, Transition events which replaced Futures this year) because the M15 events give 0 points and M25 events only give up to 5 points for winning, starting from the semis. I don't know if you were planning on doing this or the new points distribution that is starting in August, but it would work much better for balancing if you adopted the new points system starting later this year in my opinion. Just a little piece of advice :D

Also, bear in mind that you can't do the qualifying in the same week as the main draw like what happens in real life for Transition and Challenger events this year

Yep, I will use the new point structure. I am pretty relieved, that they are going back to one ranking.

But most important for me is, that there are the correct events at correct places and on the correct Court. Maybe playing days or something is not completely right, but this is ok for me.
