15) Could you add a cancel/back button to this menu?

TEM2_000.jpg

16) The "Latest Result" that is shown for a tournament doesn't work for different tournaments in the same family (e.g. Toronto and Montreal).

It also seems to not work at all for doubles at Masters 1000 and Grand Slam level (possibly including other categories).

17) The "Short Term Form" ended up negative whenever I finished a match in 3D and ran low on energy. I have a save from after the match if you need it.

TEM2_040.jpg

18) No textbox appears at all for not being selected for Davis Cup in doubles, but I can't say for singles because I haven't not been selected for it yet. I have a save from the week before if you need it.

19) In H2H, walkovers count towards the total victories of a player although they shouldn't.

1) It's coz you set your Challenger Finals TypeRank to 6 instead of 1

2) 5) 18) FITU

3) DFTU

4) Yes, he shot these 5 photos... :blackeye:

6) It's working fine here. Did you do anything special ?
To see the H2H of your coached players, look at the Rankings screen, select them for H2H, then go to the Retired screen.

7) It should be ok now, but I didn't test so not 100% sure :fear:

8) 11) 14) 16) Noted

9) FITU. When players were getting an injury, it was not shown correctly.

10) I added the Singles/Doubles tag.
I changed "final" to" finals", as in "ATP Finals". In French, we still call it "Finals of the Masters" ; I'm not sure if it was ever called like that in real life in English.
The message can now be changed according to the Category number, and default message uses "EnterMaster15" instead of "EnterMaster" (I haven't tested though :fear:). So you can change that and another one for your Challenger Finals. (It was the fastest way to handle that without too much localization hassle)

12) There, I wanted to simulate the fact that some players can raise their level on important points. At 1st, I thought about doing it for only 1 point, but it seemed too costly to use 1 XP for only 1 point, plus as the result is still random, the chance for the boost to be completely wasted was too high (ie: you boost your player but he still doesn't win the point).
I don't want to make it cheaper or last longer, because else it might become exploitable in tight matches ; eg: if it lasted 1 game, you'd just need to activate once per set to get a break and win.
And if it lasted 1 set, it'd not be much different from the full match boost, except it'd be even more interesting to play the 1st set without any boost to see how things go and thus the full match boost usefulness would greatly lower.
I'm open to changing to 3 points if really no one uses it as it is now... ':D

13) 17) FITU, or at least I hope so coz I didn't test... :blackeye:

15) No, it's not easily possible, as it's called directly from the engine (instead of a menu script), there's no actual previous menu recorded at that time. On what occasion you'd like to have it ?

19) I removed the WO from the H2H, and also from the Streak counts (I didn't test either :fear: )

6) I think I misunderstood this part of the screen, I thought by default it was meant to show H2H between coached players, with the select button there to show between the selected player and opponents.

10) It was the Tennis Masters Cup for a while, which is probably the closest name we had in English. I would still hear it be called the year end finals every so often.

12) I tried using the 2-point or 4-point boosts at big points like 15-40 on my opponents serve, but the boost seemed to be negligible for only 2 points of play given the return success rate in the first place, so I often would have been far better off going for a 10-point small boost for the whole match as I would try this a few times to get a break from a good position and fail regularly.

15) I would like an option to stay where I am instead of fly back to the coach centre, as I often right click just to go through menus after a match ends so I keep missing the intended menu option of whether I would like to stay or not

17) I tried starting a match with negative short term form, and I retired automatically after 1 game, so it works. However, the normal menu music plays during the injury text-box being displayed instead of the match music.

19) It doesn't show for H2H anymore

10) Does "qualified for the Finals of the Masters" sound ok in English ? (even if it's not realistic)

12) Maybe I could just raise a bit the bonus from 5/8/10% to 7/10/12% ?

15) Ok, so I just remove the right-button action on that previous screen, so now you'll have to actively choose...

I would recommend replacing "Finals of the Masters" with "Masters Finals" as it sounds more fluent in English, but it would make sense

Also, just a couple of other things:

1) When I hover over my H2H in the retired players/rankings board screens, then I use the mouse wheel to go up/down a page, the select players H2H tooltip appears:

TEM2_004.jpg

TEM2_005.jpg

2) The objective always appears as if it's done whenever I look at my coached players coach contract, even for my main player which doesn't have a specific objective

3) If I select a training schedule without an appropriate trainer/coach, the schedule doesn't say no one is available - the schedule just plays out as normal except it ignores the parts that I can't do without a coach.

1) It's ok for now, as doing so has selected the "Select" button, but I'll look more into in the future

2) FITU

3) In a future update, I'll try to put these parts in red in the schedule tooltip

Glad to see someone else seeing that the pesky AI is abusing those aggressive slices haha!

Another thing I noted Manutoo, is it now harder to hit a consistent backhand in this game or is it more a culmination of poor timing, overrunning. Generally I've noticed now that I'm playing that 75-80% of my errors come from the backhand side. Generally most service returns go straight into the net on that side and also just generally rally shots just go straight low into the net for random reasons. I also can say that 90% of my winners will come from the forehand side as well. The forehand side seems absolutely spot on, there just seems to be such a random element with the backhand though.

Hey Manutoo,

I've actually been testing this out with both. I'd say that there's probably a marginal difference between the two and I've tried switching up backhand animations as well.

The things I've mainly noticed:

Service return errors where they just drop at the bottom of the net even though positioning looks good and it is a normal strike not acceleration

Cross court acceleration, it looks as if I'm doing everything right as I do similar movements in moving into the ball and having the right positioning and timing on the forehand side which is why it's a winner. But I've also noticed that normal strikes as well.

Running backhands cross court and down the line again normally sink to the bottom of the net where forehands either at least go in or in my eyes correctly go wide because of a lack of precision in aiming the shot.

Trying to return a slice with a backhand is the biggest issue but I think also an overall issue. With the backhand side, struggle to even return the slice in. With the forehand, it's very difficult and normally leaves a very short and loopy ball but with the backhand it's mostly an error.

Unsure whether this because of being played on keyboard or not.

Re: Tennis Elbow Manager 2 - Beta Version Comments

Postby MichaelTA » 28 Jan 2019, 00:48

A few things I noticed recently:

1) In a 3D match, when I press space to pause, the small on-screen pause menu stays there after I click the play button again:

TEM2_018.jpg
An example of points 1), 2) and 3)

2) Don't know if this is meant to happen or not, so I might as well report it in case it's not, but the energy bar can be lower than the short term form bar in a 3D match, and it can start depleting before the short term form bar reaches the arrow below it (after lots of long rallies from when I experienced it).

3) Similarly, whenever I lower the energy spending stat, so that the energy bar is lower, the breath bar can be more filled than the energy bar. An arrow also appears below the energy bar which I don't know the meaning of so could you explain what it does?

4) This is what happened whenever I tried using the following line in the challenger finals category of mine (category 14), although I haven't tested for the other masters category of mine (category 15):
EnterMaster15 = Test
I can select left or right and it shows different numbers from 1 to 99.
I also tried using EnterMaster14 because I thought the 15 referred to the category number in the TourCategory.ini.
I have a save from just before this happened if you want it.

TEM2_019.jpg
TEM2_019.jpg (24.61 KiB) Viewed 2267 times

I also realised that there should probably be another line that I could use so that to edit the failed to enter message, so that I can change it from Masters Finals to Challenger Finals there as well.

5) If a 3D match goes to a deciding set where a player reaches at least 10 games, the right-most set in the scoreboard widens, presumably to fit the 2 digit number of games. However, whenever another match starts, the scoreboard is still wide where it was before:

TEM2_015.jpg
TEM2_015.jpg (5.45 KiB) Viewed 2267 times

Just to let you know this happened in TE2013 as well, even though there's practically no point in fixing it for that game at this stage.

6) How is the prize money for the qualifying rounds determined? Although I am using the modded calendar I created, which may influence this a bit, the qualifying prize money seems very high. For example, these are the singles prize money winnings for the 3rd round of qualifying for the US Open compared to the 4th round and the quarter-finals of the main draw:

TEM2_021.jpg
TEM2_021.jpg (8.75 KiB) Viewed 2267 times

TEM2_031.jpg (8.46 KiB) Viewed 2267 times

TEM2_030.jpg
TEM2_030.jpg (8.38 KiB) Viewed 2267 times

Also, how is the doubles prize money calculated? I can't tell if it's the same as the singles or not because the activity page shows the partner instead of the prize money column.

7) Could you add the current rank as a row shown in the contract renewal screen? I can see it as the popup is transparent to a degree, but it would be helpful to see it clearer right away:

TEM2_022.jpg

8) For a match between 2 players that I don't coach, the H2H box seems to only show between my main coached player and the opponent instead of giving me an option to toggle between my players.

TEM2_024.jpg

9) I set the CPU difficulty to Master-5 instead of Pro-10 for 3D matches. This setting saves correctly for my main player and the opponents, but for my other coached players it resets to Pro-10 before every match. What makes this awkward is that after I change it a few times, for some reason it eventually stays at Master-5 by default for that particular coached player, but not all of them, so I don't know what's going on there.

10) Player 2 in CPU matches has a sped up ready position animation (only player 2, not players 1, 3 or 4).

11) Whenever I went to select junior Andy Murray as a player to coach, this box came up:

TEM2_028.jpg

I have a save before this happened if you need it.

12) I seem to get less and less players wanting to be coached by me over time, even though I have completed all of my contracts' objectives (so far) and had my reputation rise, as well as buying all facilities at my coach centre.

Hi Manu! I started working a short while ago and I haven't had much time to play the game. I wanted to read all the comments in this thread but it was never ending ':D

I have one question, sorry if you've answered it before: I know we could pick an existing player to start a career with, but is it possible to pick a player in a certain year (for example, Federer in 2006 or Djokovic in 2015) and have all the corresponding stats? I tried starting one with Roger in 2006 but I had the same skills as if I had created a new player.

Thanks!

megadam,
keyboard shouldn't be an issue in that case.
Maybe it's the lack of spin of the BH ? Could you try to give 2 stars in the Spinny BH talent to your player and tell me if it works closer of your FH like this ? Doing so should bring a spin level very similar on both sides.

MichaelTA,
1) FITU

2) 3) The little arrows show from what point the above bar maximal value will start to decrease. It works in a similar way than the Energy cap in text-based matches as explained here https://www.managames.com/tennismanager ... html#match (although I changed the formula a bit, it's "Level = 80 - Stamina x 0.6" IIRC).

4) You have to add this in your Lang_English.txt (in "Data\Pak01.Pak/Menu" ; and you can save it in "Mods\MySuperMod\Menu")
Code: Select all
EnterMaster14   You have entered the Challenger Finals!
CantEnterMast14   Sorry, but you don't have the ranking needed to enter the Challenger Finals.

ie: it's not set in the Category, but in the text stuff... :)
PS: I added the support for CantEnterMast14 in today's update. ;)

5) FITU (but I didn't check :fear: )

6) The prize for losing in the last round of qualies is 25% of the one for losing in the 1st round of the main draw, and then it's halved for each round more early.
You can also specify "PrizeMoneyQualif" in each tournament to manually set the qualies prizes.
I checked and it seemed to work correctly so I'm not sure why you got so high prizes.

7) DFTU

8) Noted

9) I tested and I couldn't reproduce the issue. If you notice it happens again, try to send me a saved game just before the match where you'll have changed the level of your player without saving it.

10) I couldn't reproduce that issue in warm-up mode in the Training Club with 4 players, nor with a singles match in World Tour. Does it happen all the time ? "ready position" animation is the idling animation when the player does nothing, right ?

11) 12) I'd need your saved game to check what's going on here :fear:

Strikeware203,
noted.
And it's ok to ask twice for the same thing, no need to read the whole stuff... :blackeye:

Sent saves so you can check out 6), 9) and 12), hopefully you can check 11) out as well to see if anything is wrong there.

As for 10), it always happens for me after a few 3D matches in one game session (after a lot of skipping points if that has any relevance to speeding up the animation). By ready position I mean where the character is standing still and bobbing up and down slowly, which is the animation I think you are describing.

MichaelTA,
1) I got your saved games. I couldn't reproduce the Andy bug, so let's hope it'll be fixed by the Unity port or at least more easily findable once the port is done.

2) I found out why the level reset to Pro-10 : the game was checking all the players in the menus ( = the ones in the singles match, and then the 3rd coached player and so on), which means Mario was loaded twice. Now, only the players in the matches are checked for changes.

3) I saw the money prizes for qualies are wrong in your saved games. I started a game with your Tour stuff and it worked correctly (for AO Slam + Indian Wells), so maybe you changed something since then in your .ini's .

4) For the lowering number of recruitable players, I checked in details and it's normal : when your coach reputation is very high, only very talented players will request your services. (I didn't check yesterday because when I saw your screenshot I thought they were only 5 players to recruits, which was awfully low, but today I noticed you were on the 2nd page of that screen :blackeye: )

Personally I would prefer offers from lower ranked/potential players to still be more common, i.e. I would like ~3 pages of offers to remain, regardless of how high reputation rises, as the minimum amount of players (obviously less than 3 pages makes sense for really low reputation, but I'm only making a point for high reputation coaches). This is because the most fun part of the game is training those players up to a high level from a very low starting point (instead of starting with higher skills so that I just maintain those and figure out a schedule), which also makes the victories at big tournaments much more satisfying.

Also, lots of choices is always a plus in my opinion; it gives a good chance for me to choose a player I like from real life even if they weren't great in terms of their best ranking. I can also use my own knowledge about men's tennis in real life to make a better choice out of these lower skilled players if I decide to coach someone with a long term goal of winning a 250/500 tournament after a couple of years of contracts or something smaller like that.
