Sent the saves and a .dmo to show you the resetting dropshot counter in TE2013.

Just to note - I agree that Monte-Carlo is one of the best tournaments in reality, especially on clay. It didn't deserve the demotion that it got in 2009, and I don't fully understand why the ATP tried to demote it even more than what they actually did in the end.

I was watching the renaming of the player styles and loved them, I would really like if you would bring those to TE4.
It would distance the game from what it's usual and that's....usually, a good thing.

Hi Manu! I tried the latest version and have some comments

Regarding playing in the training club:
-I feel like it's more realistic but sometimes it can be a bit inconsistent. For example I hit many balls standing right in the green zone and aimed correctly but somehow they ended up going out. I still think top spin should go just a bit deeper, especially when playing defender or bulldog, because right now as it is I feel like it doesn't really bother my opponent (And while, we are on that topic, I can't see the icon for any of the three new player styles. Don't know if it's a bug or if you haven't designed them yet).
-Another thing I noticed is players feel kinda slow when their speed is 75 or less. I don't expect them to sprint as fast as a 90 speed player but they feel really sluggish.

Regarding career mode, I agree with a few things that MichaelTA said, especially those points on withdrawing from tournaments. Many times it happens in real life when a player is in both the singles and doubles draw, they tend to give singles a higher priority, and when they are doing well and have the possibility to keep going further in the tournament they withdraw from the doubles draw so they don't waste too much energy. Maybe that could be included but have a financial penalty.

I hope these comments help a bit to make the game even better!

Strikeware203,

0) I had forgotten to put the new Style icons in the install folder... It'll be fixed for next update.

1) I checked and it might be because I forgot to set the Concentration to 75% (it's at 0% by default now). It should be at the same value than your Speed to get a correct aiming precision. If it's already the case, did you play with the Aiming Preview ? The aiming zone is noticeably bigger in TEM2 than in TE3 and the ball can even go out of it sometimes, so if you didn't prepare your strike early enough and/or didn't center perfectly the ball in your racket there's always a risk to get a fault.

2) Topspin pushes the opponent far on slow surfaces, but it's not that effective on the medium surfaces ; where did you try it ?

3) The run acceleration is noticeably lower than in TE3. And due to the control limitation, you can accelerate only in 8 directions, which impairs it even more. For TE4, I'll either allow to use an analog stick to accelerate in all direction or provide some helper to ease its control. For TEM2, it'll stay like this for now, as I can't focus on the gameplay right now... :)

japan remo,
in what year ? If 2018, it's currently a fictional year, so he probably got a relatively low random ranking. At beginning of 2019, I'll update the player base and I'll give him his actual end of year ranking for 2018.

Hello manu! I like this game.As I am not good at English, this sentence may be funny.
When I start a 3D match, 1set of games will start. Also, many players do not play like experts. Even the top 100 players in the world, only 115 km / h speed at the first serve. Also, some top player are not stable in both forehand and backhand.

Japan remo,
is it with SubBuild 2018.10.23 or 2018.10.25 ?
The 1st one had some bad bugs that could lead to corrupting the player skills.

A 115km/h serve speed should be from a 30% Service Power for a man (the average speed at 30% is 132km/h). Usually, very few players in the Top 100 should have such low skill.
With women, it may happen more often, though.

A few more things I've noticed since getting the latest build (SubBuild 2018.10.26), and some questions:

1) Whenever I tried to resume game, it gave the default Marc Limon as my character (as expected), but the starting court at the coach centre was clay, which I don't think was intended. This didn't happen whenever I pruposefully invalidated my file though and tried to resume (just changed the week of a tournament), as it gave me a cement court with the default Marc Limon.

2) In a text-based match, tiebreaks seem to require lots of points to be played before one point is added to the score.

3) Toggling the sound effects option results in the music track resetting

4) Whenever I viewed a 3D match and selected "Give Up", the final score didn't seem to generate

TEM2_019.jpg

5) After selecting to continue a match later that I started viewing, I was able to restart it as a text-based match.

6) How do I skip to important points in a 3D match?

7) What is the arrow for on the short term form bar?

8) Is the short term form meant to correspond to the form of day?

9) A very old issue where I have to select the "Next Week" option twice for it to work, I also have to select to spend any remaining training hours on rest twice.

10) I would suggest rewording some of the talent descriptions as some of them sound unnatural, for example 'Upsetter' has the description "Each star raises by 10% the chance to have a good day instead of a bad day from Form of the Day, and raises by 100% the bonus of such good day."
A more sophisticated and easy to understand way of saying that would be "Each star raises the chance of a good day by 10% for the 'Form of the Day' stat. The bonus of each good day is also raised by 100%."
This isn't necessary but I think it would help the game look more professionally localised for an English speaking player base.

MichaelTA,
1) Sorry, I'm not sure to understand what you mean : if you start a new game & select the 1st Court for your coach, then exit the game and launch it again, then the Court is changed to clay in the Coach Center ? Or/and in your Player Training screen ?

There was a bug in the previous version which lead to starting with the Clay court ; so if you load a game saved in that version, you'll still have the Clay court.

2) That sounds very strange ; I just did a quick test and the tiebreak score evolved like expected. You mean you see several point descriptions popping up (eg: "winner from baseline") for each actual point added to the tiebreak score ?

3) This is working as intended (although this behavior will change once I will have ported the game to the Unity engine :) ), and this made notice a little glitch when changing the volume, so I just fixed that for the next update :blackeye:

4) Did you click "Give Up" on a match without any of your coached players ? If so, it's normal, as in such case the game will redo the whole match using the text-based match stuff.

I just did a try with a coached player match, and I got a "2/1 ret." like expected. (if you use "Continue Later", then the current match should be saved and reloaded once you go on)

5) This is working as intended

6) Move the mouse to see the skip bar at bottom of the screen, and click on the 3rd icon from the left

7) It shows the limit where the Energy will start to lower ; it's explained there : https://www.managames.com/tennismanager ... _Game.html ; except in v0.90 I changed the formula from "Level = 100 - Stamina x 0.8" to "Level = 80 - Stamina x 0.6" (I'll update the docs within a few weeks :) )

8) The Short Term Form is the skill from your player, visible in his Training Screen and text-based matches.

In the 3D match, you can check your player's Form of the Day by pressing F5

9) If you have a saved game just before it happens, please send it to me (HowTo => topic19-4589.php )

10) Yes, I'm not a native English speaker, so I often write sentences in a somewhat weird way... :blackeye:
So I very welcome any help fixing these issues !
Maybe you'd like to check the whole language file once the game is finished ?

Your rewording is easier to read, but I wanted to introduce the notion that some bad days from the Form of the Day are converted to Good Days (I'll have also to explain all this in the documentation).

Here the detailed explanation :
  • with 80% in Concentration & Constancy, you'll have 25% of days where your Form of the Day will lower by 2% or more from your normal 100% state
  • without the Upsetter talent, 10% of these days will be converted to good days, so it'll be 2.5% of the total days, and the 2% handicap will be changed to a 0.5% bonus
  • with 1 star in Upsetter, 20% of these days will be converted to good days, so it'll be 5% of the total days, and the 2% handicap will be changed to a 1% bonus
  • with 2 stars in Upsetter, 30% of these days will be converted to good days, so it'll be 7.5% of the total days, and the 2% handicap will be changed to a 1.5% bonus

1) Whenever I started the game after updating, I had clay courts as my default and only coaching court when I pressed the "Resume Current Game" button, where I had the default starting character of Marc Limon. Like you mentioned, this may be due to a bug from a previous version, as I hadn't played in about a month.

2) Yes, there are about 10-30 different point descriptions popping up before a point is added when using point-by-point scoring instead of game-by-game.

4) It was not a player that I coached, just the final of an event that I clicked to spectate to see what the 3d matches would be like. I then selected give up but after advancing to the next week no score had been generated for the match that I stopped viewing.

6) There are no buttons for me at the bottom of the screen when viewing a 3D match, whether in DevMode or not.

9) This isn't a save game issue, it always happens for me, even in the original TEM.

10) If you would like me to check the language file then I could. I think that the detailed explanation that you gave would be a lot better suited to the documentation anyway as it would be too long to include in the description that appears when the mouse hovers over the talent. The information is still there for people that want it, and personally I think that you don't need any more said in the brief description (it's your game though so if you disagree then that's fair enough).

MichaelTA,
2) ok, I had only checked game-by-game ; so now I have found & fixed the bug, thanks to your additional feedback ! :)

4) ditto :P

6) Oh yup, I didn't show the skip bar when viewing CPU vs CPU matches ! It is fixed in today's build

9) Ok, by checking the issues above I found it was happening when turning "View CPU matches" on ; so it's working as intended, except the date wasn't changing ; also to make it more clear, at the start of the week I replaced the "Next Week" button by an "End of Week" button.

By default, the game stops at the end of the week when you have no match to play that week. But when you watch CPU matches, the game also has to stop at the beginning of the week to let you tag the matches you want to see.

10) Thanks, I'll let you know when the language file will be in v1.0 .

For the current sentence, I did that : "Each star raises the chance of converting a bad day to a good day by 10% for the Form of the Day. The bonus of each good day is also raised by 100%." ; hopefully it'll be clean enough, but still encourages the reader to check the documentation to understand the concept of good & bad days.
