new court bounces

Just curious as to why the court bounces were changed.
For the blue-green cement, I think the court was more realistic in previous versions. I am watching the US Open right now and comparing the bounces and the higher bounce of the previous versions seem to be more accurate.

Hello,

the bounce is a very lil bit higher in new version.
I changed it coz :
- I wanted the ball to be a bit faster, to beat the CPU bit more easily
- I thought the rebounds often looked a bit too low (especially on clay)

Would it be possible to have a poll on this?

I actually prefer the way it was before. Realism/true-to-life gameplay is the most important thing for me. Luckily i wrote down the settings to all the courts from previous release, but it would be nice to see it back to the way it was.
Great updates otherwise Manu, you really did a lot!

Is the difference between the previous & new rebounds so obvious ..?

For the blue-green cement and clay it seems most obvious.
In the most recent release, clay seems almost faster than the outdoor synthetic and indoor hard courts.
And on the blue-green cement, the ball seems to stay down too low while going through the court really fast.
Things seemed right on in the previous release, but yes, the difference is more obvious. It just seems that something is a little "off".
I know you spent a lot of time on this, and I don't mean to critize, I'm just trying to give constructive criticism to help make this game the most realistic it can be (and you have done a fine job on that, since this is my favorite game  )

Argument based criticism is valuable, no worry... ;)

Last year, when I changed the bounce for TE2006 I expected many reactions, but I got none, and this time, I already have a few, so I guess last year changes were better... :)

Actually, you're going to have trouble to restore the bounce of previous version only by changing back the court properties, coz actually, it seems the change that annoys you the most is the one about the top spin effect that occurs on the ball rebound (I guess no other game handles that, and it was just introduced in TE2006).
I'm going to set it back to something closer of previous version, while still staying close of the new court properties.

One of my motivation to change the rebounds was that the top spin effect (b1 + down) doesn't produce a high enough rebound compared to what I can do on a real court, I think in the new version is more realistic about that point...

Yeah I thought this to myself too, clay in this version is really fast, I can't compare it to other 2006 versions but I know the clay from 2004 version and it's waaaaaaaay slower, which I find better cause it brings more variety to the game so you can't automatically play on every surface as soon as you learn to play on one of them.

I also don't want to sound like I'm only bitching cause TE is the only game I play, since I've never really been into games, just giving my opinion.

Hello Tom,

are you talking of the current PC version (1.0c build 39) ? or the current Mac version ? (which I still didn't update with the latest bounces)

I'm talking about the Mac version. Could you please update is too? I suppose (and hope) that the process is the same as on PC so it doesn't take you much time. I just moved to the clay season so it would be great :D

Speaking of updates, another question comes to mind: What files do I need to copy into the updated folder so that I can continue playing World Tour?
