Change player value?

Postby Sanji » 18 Oct 2004, 20:32

Hi,

Im a little bit confused: Is it possible to change the player value(Forehand, backhand and so on percentage...) in the middle of the game?
Because when im winning, i can see points so that i should be able to increase the percentages, but when i want to do so it only asks me if i want to start a new game....so, is there another way?

I have the same question. When playing Tounament Mode on easiest for me atm. As I go through a tournament and win my point bar at the bottom goes up, but I can't find the right time to be able to take those points and apply them to certain attributes. Also what is mostly frustrating about this is when I start the next tounament my skills all have gone down by 4 on each attribute and I still can't apply any points. Is there an answer to this? Thanks.

Hello,

from the doc :
- Training:
Before each tournament, the Training screen will pop up; this screen allows you to distribute the training points you won during your previous matches; for each available day between 2 tournaments, you can redistribute 6 training points.
For each match won, you earn about 10 training points; for each match lost, you earn 25 training points, because defeats teach more than victories..!
But take care, every week, you lose a few points in your characteristics: if you don't practise, you'll regress inexorably. The higher a characteristic is, the faster it'll drop.

If u need more precisions, let me know... :)

It says i have 60ish points at the end of a tournament, then when the day where I can distribute them pops up there are ZERO points to distribute. Please Explain.

Ok, I guess it's not obvious for people who are not tennis specialist (maybe I should update the doc about this specific point).

So, when you win a tournament, it's always on Sunday.
And when you start a new one, it's usually on Monday (actually, sometimes, it's on Tuesday).
So it's normal you have 0 point available. It's because you don't have any free day between Sunday & Monday.

To give you enough time for training, you should skip tournament during 1 week (when there's no important event).

Ok I figured it out now about having to take a week off. My problem is that unless you choose to lose a lot your stats are going to deteriorate gradually until you have horrible stats. For instance I just one the first tournament of the year and gained a total of 36 points for the win. Then I took week 2 off before the Australian Open. The problem is each of my stats deteriorated 6 points in that time off for a total of 42 points lost so even with spending all the points I won I am still deteriorating from where I started. If you choose not to take the week off all that happens is you still lose points. How do you compensate to ever get good stats? Do you have to make it to the final and lose everytime to do so? I'm kinda lost on this.

I just used the cheat code to win a whole season taking weeks off here and there to apply points and what I noticed was only 1 time during the entire season was it possible to get more total points then what I had in my first game played. I can't imagine what you are supposed to do in the harder settings.

The point is that you have to make choices on which stats you want to have high.
You can't have all very high.
But actually, you don't need them to be very high to beat your opponent.
A good forehand & form (about 80%), with a correct backhand (60%) will be enough to develop a defender or puncher tactic, even if all your other stats are pretty low.

So model your player according your own way to play ! :)

So it's an impossibility to ever have stats similar to Roger Federer or Andy Roddick?

in "very easy" & "easy" mode, it's possible to have stats similar to them.
In difficulty levels above, it's not possible.
But if you put volley skills on the side, it's possible again...
