Game faster since Build 45 ?

General discussions about the 2nd edition of Tennis Elbow

Postby manutoo » 07 Apr 2008, 03:51

I wonder why the 1st guest, Brad1981, and dan_d have all the same IP...
Brad1981, if you have a trouble, no need to multi-post like this... And if it's Brad1981's brother or something like that, playing on the same PC than Brad1981, then no need to double post as well... :?

Sorry Manu,
My brother posted as both guests. We both play the game, and he notices the same thing I did, but he wouldn't have posted because he doesn't play as much as I do, so he signs in as guest to add another voice to this issue. Sorry, I wouldn't have got him to do this, but this is really the only game I play, and I'm just so into it I guess, and I have really have noticed a change in the speed/difference of the gameplay against cpu between the current version and last version.
Currently I have 2 versions installed: the previous version for playing against cpu, and current version for playing online. Wish the play against cpu could be changed back to last version :(
I really think it was the Nadal-shot thing that did it perhaps?

Hello Brad1981,

the "nadal-shot" is only operative when you do a top spin strike, and it's a very simple change, so there's no chance for side effects, as well as the correction of the forehand/backhand skills using...

Having the skill (either FH or BH) set to 0% really produces the effects you're describing, so except if you can show me in a video that the effect is actually different from what I understood, I guess there's not much I can do...

ever since i installed the new update of this game i seem to suck at online play, i have my elo drop from around 1800 to 1400 and its still dropping, i meani get smacked all the tiome, even by the players i used beat. has the speed of the game changed (faster) in the online mode too, or are these new guys getting better, as i feel like i'm missing something here. i have played over 850 online matches up to now, and never have i seen such a drop in play...

Yes, I notice the speed is faster in online play too.
Previously I had said that I didn't notice a change in online play, but that was just after one match. After playing about a dozen more times, it does seem that it's a bit faster and the ball just sort of stays too low.

also, in the tour mode, the ability of the cpu to play drop shots is completely unnatural, i mean the cpu can play drop shots all the time and in 80% of the cases you cant get near the ball, as it is so curved and low that its not normal.

after a couple of days of play i'm getting pretty frustrated with this game, as some of the "updates" are really not very wise. we dont want the game that is unwinable...

Grr, I tried uploading videos to Youtube but after waiting 15 minutes, it still wouldn't complete the upload :(
I really wish there was a way to demonstrate to you what is happening. But at least I know it's not just me, since Milos has stated the same issue too in above posts.
I understand that it's hard to pinpoint since it was probably a side effect of a certain change/update. Wish it could go back to previous update (with inclusion of 0 games/set feature-tiebreak) to finish out TE2006 series, since TE2008 is on the way...

I don't know your speed, but uploading a video surely takes long time.
With a classic 512/128 xDsl connection, you need 1 hour to upload 50 MB.

ok, now i have played one full season on the world tour mode, and i must say that the game has gotten considerebly harder, i mean the players ranked around 50.place are almost as hard to beat as the top 10 ones, they play every shot almost to the perfection, drop shots that are virtually impossible to return etc. this has become one of my least favorite games and i'm sick of this, it seems it just has too much speed, and the cpu players are just too good now. on the incredible level i used to be top 5, and now since the new update i'm around 20 and falling down the rankings. something is definetly wrong.

Milos, same than for Brad :
if you can, record the game with Fraps : www.fraps.com , and then upload the video somewhere ( on www.youtube.com if you don't have another option).

And during the record, press "F5" to show the skills of your player...

Milos,
I have discussed this with Manu, and we weren't able to figure it out. He didn't change it intentionally, so I'm sure it is an unintended side effect of a certain change. It's too bad that it can't be pinpointed. Perhaps you could have better luck than I did in trying to record this as a video clip.
In the meantime, I'm just awaiting the release the TE2008 (which I hope doesn't have this issue) :) But for now, I'm using the previous version of TE when playing against the cpu.
