A dozen more suggestions

Postby Guest » 06 Mar 2008, 21:50

1- Challengers should also have qualifications, and you shouldn't be able to enter main draw of a challenger unless your are ranked inside top 200;
2- Challengers should also have doubles competition;
3- You should get additional points for getting through qualifications on any tournament;
4- You should be forbiden to play challengers if you are ranked inside top 150;
5- To enter qualies of world series or masters series tournaments you should be ranked inside top 150, and for grand slams inside top 200;
6- You should be obligated to play all grand slams if you are ranked inside top 100, and all masters series events if you are ranked inside top 50 - if you decide to play another event at the time of one of those, you should (for example) be penalised by your points earned on that event cut in half;
7- You should be forbiden to play the smallest world series events (smaller than half a million in prize money) if you are ranked inside top 10;
8- Players should get injured once in a while - for example, if your combined match time goes beyond 20 hours without a rest between tournaments (combining singles and doubles), you should get injured and be forced not to play in the next 3 events (to recover) - after coming back from injury your stats should be slightly lower;
9- Your form should also vary, meaning you should find your stats getting temporarily lower during about 5 random events each season;
10- Switching between surfaces should lower your stats, cause it takes time to adjust to new conditions;
11- Taking too long a break between tournaments (say, 4 weeks or more), should lower your stats due to inactivity;
12- CPU players should be more inteligent - when I learn how to play them, I almost never lose again.

So my main suggestion is basically to make the game harder, cause while it's like this, it's only hard in the beginning, but once you start winning your stats never fall and you're destined never to drop in rankings. It's also unreasonable to be able play how much you want, whatever you want, cause that way you can have a top 20 ranking just by playing challengers. Furthermore, after playing only one season on Incredible level, I'm number 1 in singles rankings, I've won 2 grand slams, world championships plus some smaller events and participated in doubles world championships.

Your challengers suggestions already exist :D And in real tennis, every player outside top 50 can enter challengers and even some players inside top 50 can play if they receive a wild card

Haven't seen latest version, sorry :D
As for the ranking required, I know what's the situation in real tennis, but from what I know in this game only CPU players below number 150 enter challengers, so I think that rule should include human players as well (otherwise it's not really fair...).

Not true. I had to beat some players ranked between 70-100 in challengers when I was starting my career.

Anyway I agree that the computer on incredible level should be harder to beat and should have more varied style. These CPU players are especially weak at the net when they have to return drop shots.

Hello,

TE2008 will have the improvements done in TEM ; so:

1- 2- done in TEM , and available here for TE2006 : https://www.managames.com/Forum/ftopic320.php
3- in TEM, it is done like in real life, not all qualif give points
4- anyone can point a link to what is the real rule ? I had never been able to find it...
And Tom Paulman is right, when there are not enough players for a Challenger, the engine can make enter player up to the 75th rank
5- there's no limit to that, anyone can enter Qualif, as long as the draw is not full
6- done in TEM
7- it's not true in real life
8-9- injury & form done in TEM, but TE2008 won't have injury nor advanced form handling
10- done in TEM, won't be in TE2008
11- already done in TE2006... :?
12- it'll change in TE2008

The rule is that you can get directly into challengers if you are not ranked inside the top50 at the time of application.

I don't know the link to the rule but if you check main draws of some challengers, you will see that top50 players get in only through a WC (however top 75 players rarely play as they can get better money at ATP events).

The only exception is the upcoming Sunrise challenger, which any player outside top 20 can enter (it's because they can do something between IW and Miami if they lose early at IW).

5- Yeah, but in real tennis a player ranked at #300 stands virtually no chance of entering qualies of a slam, unless given a wild card.

7- It's not, but in real life players are tougher to beat, so I was thinking it would be a good way of making things a bit more dificult.

11- I must've missed it :D

12- Nice to hear that :lol:

5- 112 players in final draw + 128 players in qualifs = 240 players + missing players (injured, etc...), then the 300th ranked player has decent chances to enter the qualifs ... ;)
