Average rally length is 5.6 for WTA, 7.3 for ATP at clay. There's a nice paper about it by Leiden Institute of Advanced Computer Science (Universiteit Leiden) which can be downloaded here.

My average rally length is more than 12 on clay, 10 at hard. Maybe just a subjective perception by you. Keep practising.
