I didn't change the topspin in v1.0e and I just checked and it seems to be working normally.
Maybe you forgot to set your style to Defender ?

The only tiny change in v1.0e is that a Defender with 100% topspin skill has very slightly longer ball on B1+down strike.

I'm not sure what you mean, but I guess you should close the game, then reinstall it to fix your problem.
