I tested quickly and it seemed ok on my rig, but I play at 1920x1080.
Maybe try to activate Settings -> Camera -> Force Sun in the Back.

Fed1 , I had forgotten to answer you about the animation bit. So nothing has changed since the Steam version. Basically, weird animation = wrong positioning, so if you see weird animations, then you have to work on your positioning. And if it feels better now, it might just mean you play better now...
