If there's too much lag, tell your opponent you want to stop to play & ask him to cancel your ELO penalty. If he doesn't give him bad reputation.
You can also check the network condition in the connection screen and during the 1st game.

check you have read/write/exec access on all files of the whole folder. Then launch the game, and if still nothing, check if you got a System.log file in the folder, and look for error or warning in it.

if you modified PlayerMale01.X , then you did a mistake. Else, it's likely either a video drivers issue, or not enough GPU VRAM.
