Yes. Only issue may be that the Last Direct flag (LD) isn't on the lowest ranked player who directly entered the draw.

For the serve, it works same, but there's no way to see the aiming preview, but as you said, once you know how it works, it's doable...

it's an error that happens when there's not enough players in the draw, and then the game tries to find more available players. If the draws are full in your game, then it should be ok. Else, add players in the base or remove some tournaments.
