Because :
1- 1/0 is not significant enough to calculate the ELO points.
2- Give up isn't counted on first couple games, it allows to give up when you see you have ping trouble with your opponent and prefer to not play with him... (or if you joined the wrong game, or mistake like this)

yup, you can't give up anymore without ELO penalty now...
I did this coz too many people were giving up. So with the new version, it should be better (in 1 week or a bit more, everybody will have to download the latest version with the new rules)

if he's in the menus, you shouldn't lose points...
Give up is not counted when your opponent :
- paused the game
- in the menus
- swapped to another application

And you probably lost many ELO points because you gave up a normal match (I added a 5% penalty for such case).

with the latest version, you should lose extra points when you quit a match before the end.
But unfortunately, you were losing extra points as well when you were forced to quit due to time limit.
I fixed that and I updated the version, you can download it again...
