Hi,
After the last update my xbox series x/s controller is not recognized as such but as generic steam input.

Steams sees the controller fine.

I also have an xbox 360 controller, same behaviour.

Tested without loading any mod.

I have another pc I can test tomorrow with another x input joystick (logitech f350), I"ll post an update on that.

I checked and it happened for me with the release Steam version as well, although it doesn't happen with my dev version when running in Steam mode, so I have no idea what's going on...

Hi Manu,
Thanks for getting back, I have a small update. I have another PC with Windows 10 and it works fine, tested with 2 Xinput controllers. Seems the problem is with Windows 11, or at least that's the difference I found.

I also noticed a small issue. I set the Y button for lob and RT+Y for aggressive lob, however when I input that combination (RT+Y) in the game it triggers the acceleration strike (Side note: I have RT set as acceleration). I have other combinations with the RT that works fine, for example X is slice but X+RT is a drop shot and it works like a charm.
This issue happens in both PCs, so Windows 10 and Windows 11 as well.

I'm on Windows 10 and it still doesn't show the controller names today.

It may be linked to Steam Input whose behavior seems to be erratic, considering the feedback I got over the years : usually, the reported issues were fixed by turning it off...

And indeed RT for the acceleration was taking over RT+Y for the aggressive lob ! It's fixed for the next update, thanks to your report.

Glad that the report helped! Looking forward for the next update.

I'll try to disable Steam Input later today and see how it goes, hopefully that's what's causing the issue.

Edit: I disabled steam input mode and the problem is still there, under controller in the menu it says unknown controller

I disabled Steam Input and it shows the real controller name when launching the game from Steam.

Maybe you didn't disable it ? Or something very weird is going on...

I don't know what to say here, I doubled check my Steam Input settings and I did disabled Steam Input, I also tested my Xbox 360 controller and I checked other Steam games, the controller is not recognized. But like you said, maybe it's something on my end as no other users have reported this. Is there some kind of log I can send you for this? Otherwise I guess I should wait for a Steam client update?

If it happens with other games, then it's sure it's an issue with Steam Input.

I'm not sure what is the best way to do that, but start by searching on Google if someone else got the same issue.

I realized now that I might not have explained myself very clear, I tried to say that nor the Xbox Series controller nor the Xbox 360 controller are recognized within the game, but in all the games in my library that I have installed atm I don't have that issue and both controllers are recognized properly. But given that no one else reported this I think this is an issue on my end, I'll keep testing and post any update in case I find something.

Oh ok. This bit was confusing : "I checked other Steam games, the controller is not recognized" .

Not many people report issue, plus this one is invisible if you already set up your controller, because it's still working when playing the matches, right ?

Sorry for the confusion! I meant to say that on my other games the controller is recognized, only in TE4 is not recognized.

Yeah, the only complication I face is that it's so much intuitive to navigate the interface with a 'green A' and a 'red B', rather than a plain 'Button 1' and 'Button 2', but other than that, no issues.

Hopefully next update (With the RT+Y fix) solves the issue on it's own, or maybe I'll do the classic update Windows and drivers and see how it goes.
