1st Alpha Feedback !

Postby manutoo » 25 Dec 2013, 06:44

Hello,

1) so is it fun as it is, even a little bit ?

2) with a better IA (ie: smarter monsters with more variety in their behaviours and a lot more abilities), more abilities & Talent trees for our Party, more weapons, gears & stuff to loot, better graphisms, all that through 20 levels for about 20 hours of gameplay, will it get tremendously fun ?

3) How long time did it take you to finish the 1st level ? (total time is shown of top left of the screen, but it includes the time spent in Menus)

Notes:
- you can move & turn with the keypad 4, 5, 6, 7, 8 & 9 keys ; you can re-assign these keys in the config tool that pops-up at start-up
- you can press the right button to enter mouse-look view ; without unpressing the right button, you can now press the left button to advance
- press 'Esc' during the game to access the In-Game menus that lets you configure the display settings (depth of view, gamma, etc...)
- Dungeon Breaker is a project codename, not the final name of the game

Okay the first thing i detected, is the presentation of the folders is pretty good.
I mean, it's easier, because there is just one .exe and a folder with all the Data.

Then i opened the game, i noticed there is a selector of resolution-quality, i have seen this in other games, and i really like it, so it's okay.
I selected 1440x900 & Fantastic in graphics quality.
Lagged a little, so i lowed a little the graphics.

Then i created a new game. At the begining the story is pretty good, and you even have the opportunity to choose what to talk.
But then the game tuned a little repetitive, just attack and walk, then when you introduced the puzzle things, it was pretty good. Also, the fire balls were good
Then, something happened, for me, it's good, i got stucked, right here, please help me, i can't even finish the beta lvl
Sin título.jpg

I have 2 small weights, the problem is, the first time i were on the white part of the floor, the the system worked and the spaces were filled, but then i fall, and when i reached the same part later, nothing changed, with or without me or anything on the ''switcher''.
Well, i'll reply your questions:

1) Yes, pretty fun, especially when monsters appeared from no-where 8-)
2) Uh, i don't know, i think you have to be VERY creative, to create a whole game like this, and without being repetitive.....
3) Well, i got to the part of the picture, like in 27 Min, then i fall.... i know it's a lot of time, but my characters sometimes where in 0 in stamina during a fight, and took a long time in the part where 8 skulls appeared

Regards :jap:

EDIT: Oh, i forgot, the camera is okay, but it's not enough good for a final release, i mean, it's pretty hard to move it with the mouse.....

Nigogu,
the mechanism was supposed to reset, but it didn't !
I fixed it, you can re-dl the game and load your saved game (if you saved it ;) ). If it still doesn't work and you didn't manually saved your game, load your latest "Auto" saved game, and it should be ok.

Yup, the challenge is to make the game not too much repetitive ; hopefully the combat system will be interesting, but it seems so far you didn't especially like it, but maybe you need more time to learn & understand it (and your party will die less often if you do so..! :P )

What do u mean by "camera" ? You mean click on the arrows to move around ?

Ok! i suppose i can write my review here!! So i am posting the inbox post here.
Well i am enjoying to play this game! I find few things a little problematic:
1.) The game fps is just max. of 9fps . it's quite slow. However once getting used to conditions, i felt it was Ok to manage.
2.) The arrows are pretty hard to operate. I get very less time to attack properly the skeletons. I need to click arrow to move in directions. When i see skeletons i panic and click other arrow then it will keep attacking me lol. Can u keep movement with mouse?? I mean if i keep pressing left mouse he should keep moving and right click to attack? Cuz then it will be faster for me to look at the skeleton than look at the arrow buttons down under to attack.
P.S. Game is good.
It's really hard to do move and attack at the same time. Game should be a little faster in my opinion.
Movement=Use left click mouse and move the mouse to look in directions.
Attack= Use right click only( it's there in game )
Also, can you involve mark behind the player showing his footsteps? Because i get confused in the dark and move in the same location because all the bricks and jail cages look similar. So it takes a lot of time for me to find the right route to proceed ':D
I will give more comments soon, I played just for 1hour. Felt good about the game! :D
Hey, Nigogu how did you 55fps?!?! i get a max. fps of 9 fps lol ':D

I played 007 RPG game. I downloaded the patch Manutoo. It's quite interesting, as others indicated there are few problems with mouse movement and specially pressing arrows on the screen.

Oh, i should be considered as a Beta Tester Now  - EDIT: I saw i'm now part of a group of testers, and thats why i can see this topic

Yeah, i didn't understood the combat system, i don't know if you just have to do 1 click or many clicks :annoyed:

manutoo wrote:What do u mean by "camera" ? You mean click on the arrows to move around ?

I mean, it's hard to move with the mouse the orientation of the player... Sometimes you're walking, & at the side, somebody is atacking you, you have to move the camara, and then you can atack... but it takes me some time, and maybe that's why i died many times ':D

Everybody
I added this note :
- you can move & turn with the keypad 4, 5, 6, 7, 8 & 9 keys ; you can re-assign these keys in the config tool that pops-up at start-up
You're actually not supposed to click the arrows to move around... :P It'll have an option to remove them from the screen, it's sure there are not much convenient to use.

n 201,
lower the quality in the config tool at start, and then press 'Esc' during game to lower "View Range" in "Video Options" ; hopefully, you'll reach 30 fps.
The game requires a decent gamer 3D card of the past 5 years.

You're not supposed to move & attack at the same time ; during fight, you stay in the same place. (in the future, some monsters will have special attack that will requires you to step away)

Nigogu,
you're not a Beta tester..! :sad3:
You're an Alpha tester ! ':D

Maybe I should add a bit more info in the in-game texts...
The combat system in short :
- right click => start to attack, but only use auto-attack ; it's decent, but not very powerful
- click on abilities (on bottom of the screen) to do extra damage (mostly for Damage Dealers), extra threat (for the Tank, so monsters attack him), or healing (for the healer) ; each ability is unique and can be used more or less frequently
- when 1st monster is dead, right click on the 2nd one, and so on
- you have to be sure monsters are attacking your tank ; his Thunderclap abilities is good for that, but not always enough, so follow by a rend

Nigogu,
the samurai drops a key when he dies, which lets you open the portcullis on left side of the room, which leads to the last room available (and a little stupid joke from my part... ':D ).
So you can consider you finished the Alpha..!

The door is back upstair ; just follow the left wall when you enter the Samurai's room and u'll see it...
Alpha 2 should be there within 2 months, I hope... It depends what I'd do, still not 100% sure I'll go or not... I'd like to get opinion of an hardcore Dungeon Crawler player, and/or a World of Warcraft fan 1st... :fear:
