Heinrich von Westphalen,
you deleted your message about beating IC-4, why oh why ?

Elias,
good result !
Yup, it might have been hard to not fall asleep, only 1st point lasted more than 2 minutes..! :P
Would you be able to beat IC-10 like this ? (just winning 65% of the points over 2 or 3 games would be enough, no need to play 3 hours to reach 6/2 ;) )

testo,
well done ! :)

Hello manu, I hope you don't mind if a noob (like me :fear: ) tries this.
Here's my best attempt, but i felt that i was playing the old "PONG" with deep crossed top-spin shots...
I played with a 200cm server (& 45% of Top Spin), trying to go to the net in each 2nd serve (it's almost easier to reach the net after a slow serve than after a fast one  ).
That text in brackets refers to both serving and returning ':D .

Kind regards,
Nigogu :jap: .

Well, definitely possible i think, but not much an exciting experience .. you really need though nerves to do this, and healthy eyes (wich i don't have at this time unfortunately). It's not extremely difficult technically speaking, just needs a long, sustained, good focus, as you want to hit deep shots all the time, aka perfect or near the sweet spot, cause everytime you give such AI a shorter ball, you may get quickly in trouble. Maybe i'll try in the next days, the will is not there right now, and i know some guys around can do this much better than me.

Nice challenge and I felt like trolling (you know me ;)) so here's a twist

My opponent first...I made him by memory at the time and didn't check but have just noticed it's about the same except height/weight/name

Image

I used Tour rules (realistic mode/elite controls/All+Danger Zone).
I played on Green Clay for some reason :fear:
I was also in a trollsy mood, so I played with a power baseliner with net and 100 topspin

Kind regards,

Stajus

testo,
hopefully we will do another Challenge or 2 on other surface(s), but right now, it's clay.

Stajus,
put him at 185cm, raise his sublevel a bit, set court to Clay and then post a new .dmo ! ;)

Cpu level: Incredible 1
Player style: Volleyer (I use Varied or Volleyer on Tour)
Topspin: 28% (same as the % I use on tour)
Stats are similar to the ones I use on clay except some minor judgement since my character is for fast surface. I put more stamina, better smash, less counter and less backhand power than what I do on tour to make it suit the game on clay.

Code: Select all
13 / 21 = 62%   1st Serve   11 / 17 = 65%       8 / 11 = 73%   Short Rallies Won (< 5)   3 / 11 = 27%
0                    Aces                   0                    6 / 7 = 86%       Medium Rallies Won (5-8)   1 / 7 = 14%
1                Double Faults   0                  12 / 17 = 71%    Long Rallies Won (> 8)   5 / 17 = 29%
214 Km/h     Fastest Serve   206 Km/h                                Average Rally Length: 9.4
196 Km/h   Avr 1st Serve Speed   199 Km/h                               0   Set Points Saved   0
181 Km/h   Avr 2nd Serve Speed   175 Km/h                               0   Match Points Saved   1
12   Winners   3                                     11 / 13 = 85%     Points won on 1st Serve   4 / 11 = 36%
7   Errors   15                                        5 / 8 = 63%   Points won on 2nd Serve   2 / 6 = 33%
23 / 29 = 79%   Net Approaches   0 / 0 = 0%              11 / 17 = 65%   Return Points Won   5 / 21 = 24%
2 / 2 = 100%   Break Point Conversions    0 / 0 = 0%       0            Return Winners              0
27   Total Points Won   11                     2 / 2 = 100%   Breaks / Games With Break Point   0 / 0 = 0%

And This is my first attempt after some practices since I haven't played singles and with cpu for a while.
I just b2 volley till they cannot reach the ball (yes on tour guys rush to the net 100 times a set on clay  )
or circle defend by staying 10m behind the baseline in returning games with the lighting backward speed, waiting them to dropshot or realteively weak ball so that I can ballbash and net rush to b2 volley till they miss again. And like on tour, if your character is about 1.9m with speed 100(after remapping 90%), even staying far back you can still reach every dropshot.
And yes I am bad at circle defending, b2 volleying and overhead. So you can imagine how unplayable it would be when the top guys on tour have 60%+ topspin defending every ball back and never miss a smash no matter how good the lob is. :jap: On a sidenote, cpu's slice serve return is bad too. In doubles ppl just spam my partner with their slice serve and my partner would slice the ball way out to gift opponent pts

but my style operates the game or is only for the cpu? or the tactic in general? however is the same of online games/tour: varied with 20% topspin

i defeated at 2'attempt, in the first i lost 6-3, i tried to do more winners, but was difficult with his defense...so in the second match i used a wait-and-see attitude and i won without excessive problems ;)

Re: The Incredible Challenge !

Postby Heinrich von Westphalen » 01 Oct 2014, 10:35

manutoo wrote:Heinrich von Westphalen,

I deleted it because the set up is nonsense. I played w/ IC8 a set (5/2 ... retired after our stamina were empty and had 3 200+ rallies in a row) and IC10 (first rally 300 shots, ret.). The problem is well known, especially between defenders (Voja / Maryanucci / me) ... Voja and me tested a week ago a bit w/ top spin and the results were (as usual in our matches) endless rallies (both w/ topspin), random outs by him (just me w/ top spin) and random outs by both (both with 0% topspin). For sure, the effects are negligible for the score (all sets were close) but it's still annoying.
Your suggested CPU has no weapon except to wait for an error (which also can be avoid by spamming the net / drop 'n' rush / short slice 'n' rush). I guess your main changes of topspin (1.0d) defused the weapon of a defender. Due to the ts topic, you should finally limit the topspin to 50 as well, at least for an own 'TE tournament mode' (which is equal to realistic mode except the ts limitation). Every value above 50 will be used solely for the purpose of pushing and to preparing net spam.

Kind regards,
Heinrich von Westphalen.

After several attempts and modifications of stats, I was finally able to beat incredible 10 cpu by 60% topspin to push and S&V to spam the net.

And I think that's why I have said many online players are way better than incredible10 cpu because they have more varieties and better "spam" shots.(e.g. short slice, dropshot and net rush, 70% topspin moonball, both players at net when you net rush, etc.)

It has no skill, just b2 volley and spamming cpu like what ppl on tour do  (b2 volley to human in singles or cpu in doubles till they miss or slice serve to cpu in doubles)
