General discussions about the 3rd edition of Tennis Elbow

Settings

Postby Daffers » 27 Oct 2011, 12:22

After my first season i feel that i have found the right settings for me that the game is most realistic, i am curious what level and settings you guys are playing at.?
I play at Master sub5.. on elite controls with no preview.
mt run has been downgraded so that both ai and i walk slower, this shortens the rallies a lot, also generates more unforced errors at both sides.
Also i changed all defenders to powerbaseliners :D this works out great as well, they are still tough oppenents but with enormously long rallies.

Finished my first season at 32th place starting at 100..
best result is 2 atp tour finals
W/l 43-27

I play similar settings, although Im nowhere near your CPU level.

Mtrun 0.9 / 0.85 for CPU vs. CPU.
Elite controls
More friction on all courts except grass.
Raised penalty for off center hits - sweetspot radius at 0.08.
No previews.
Volleyer style - serve an volley on almost all serves.

my mtrun is
[MtRun]
Acceleration = 1.0
MaxSpeed = 0.8
AiAcceleration = 1.0
AiMaxSpeed = 0.8

I like to make a .dmo to show you what it looks like but i am not so sure how to do that, maybe use fraps ?

I inserted a dmo of the first set, remember that he is ranked 123 in the world so he makes more unforced errors than other opponents.

That makes sense. Lowering accel too much makes it impossible to play serve and volley as u wont get to the net fast enough. On the other hand the CPU returns serve a little too well compared to real life and lowering accel corrects that to some extent. Not enough, though, as u will notice if u serve and volley a lot.

The player is little sluggish when moving forwards. The other directions I think is ok.

You are right, it's hard to get drop shots as well, but for me as i am not a serve and volley player it is fine.. on the other hand i find it easy to play serve and volleyers because it takes them a while to get to the net, and they will fault on a ball to there feet. Your suggestion is to higher the acceleration a bit ?
btw the match ended in 6-1 6-3 6-1.. easy win, playing nadal in Quarters now :S..
2nd and 3th set a lot less unforced errors by both players, I like the fact that computer players varie in the way the play, one set better than the other, and also some matches better that others, manutoo is this random ?

ok, now i realise it is not as realistic as i thought, playing nadal is impossible:
Even with 100% power you cannot gain advantage in the rally, i am a bit frustrated by the game now, since this match was insanely frustrating.
apparentely my settings are way off, the seem nice against normal players, but this match against nadal was completely ridicilious.
Maybe i should set everything back to standard or something this was absolutely insane. no chance at all.
is nadal this insane with the none tweaked TE11, or is it because i changed the mtrun ?

In your case its probably a matter of lowering yr CPU difficulty. I play at junior 8 now and with my settings I play evenly with the top 10 and it feels very realistic. I play the years 1985 and forward. Lots of highly ranked vollyers that are tough to beat.

It's likely coz Defenders with heavy topspin are very strong, even with your current settings.

he is a powerbaseliner in my game, well maybe i should just play nadal on lower level.. because getting hammered like this is no fun.
