.dmo of the half-volley problem

Postby lreese » 01 Oct 2011, 12:38

First of all, it's not really half-volleys. It's low volleys where the player uses a drive instead of a volley stroke.

It happens throughout, but check out the last point of my first service game (2nd game). It happens a few times during my second service game too (4th game)

I checked the last point of your first service game, and yup, it's like I said in the previous topic, the animation starts when you're still after the 1st bounce. I'll try to tune that depending of your current speed to try to catch the correct animation.
It's not an half-volley though, it's a low volley, you strike the ball before the bounce (which is also very hard in real).

Thank you. And yes, like I said above it is a genuine volley, but a low one where the player hits a drive instead of a volley shot. It becomes a swinging volley, like some pros actually hit in real life, but on high shots. I figured out that using fast auto-positioning helps since it moves the player back as well and thereby letting the ball bounce far enough away from the player to make that ground stroke work. That seems to be how the CPU handles it.

I think those low volleys should still be hard to make, though, only with a genuine volley shot. One that maybe clips the tape of net, or goes long, or sometimes goes in but as weak shot. And on occasion somneone like Rafter or Edberg puts it away.
