Postby manutoo » 25 Nov 2009, 10:16

Hello,

Tennis Elbow 2009 v1.0d is released (Build 39-2009.11.25) :
https://www.managames.com/download.php?TE2009_fe1d.exe [Permanent direct download link to the latest version]
http://toogame.free.fr/Files/TennisElbow2009.exe [Mirror site for people having corrupted download from managames.com - but not up to date all the time]

New Features :
- New Strike Styles : 1 Service, 1 Forehand (you're welcome to guess from what real player(s) they are inspired of in this topic : viewtopic.php?f=15&t=2209&p=33566#p33566 )
- Animation : players now look the ball ! :P
- Gameplay : on the short crossing passings, volley jump is now done slightly forward to cut the ball trajectory
- AI : CPU can now use spin on the service (in Training Club, only with very low or high topspin skill)
- World Tour : can see CPU vs CPU matches ; you can also take control of one or both of the CPU players (if you quit the match before it ends, the score won't be kept and will be re-simulated from the beginning)
- 1 new court : Green Clay ( https://www.managames.com/tennis/shot_en ... 9_ss19.jpg )
- Mod : Match Time, Serve Speed & Info Bar locations can now be set in the Court.ini ( look Data\Court07\Court.ini for the default values )
- Mod : max acceleration & max speed is shown when DevMode is on (MacAcc is highest when turning, so be careful when comparing its values)
- Online : Experimental method to block Demo versions + Chat recording ; report bad online behavior in this topic : topic8-2789.php

Changes :
- Gesture : Cheer Jump tuned
- Animation : better legs animation when striking the ball while walking/running backward
- Animation : Serves 1 & 2 tuned a bit
- Gameplay & Animation : volleys animations tuned so the wingspan is wider, allowing to catch more balls at net
- Topspin : CPU puts a bit less topspin in the ball ; when hitting a ball on the run, topspin is slightly lowered ; defender's topspin bonus has been lowered
- World Tour : score simulation tuned a bit to take account of the less powerful service of the women, compared to men
- World Tour : Players' ranking updated for end of year 2009
- Gameplay : 1-hand Backhand handicaps raised a bit on difficult balls (ie: struck in the Red/Orange part of the Danger Zone) and on balls higher than the shoulder
- Gameplay : lob precision lowered, especially with a low lob skill
- Online : the Block Chat feature also blocks the Quick Chat
- AI : CPU rushes the net a bit more smartly

Bug Fixes:
- Online : cannot have the Service Power above 70% anymore in Fair & Tourney Modes
- World Tour : can close the game at end of match, before coming back to the menus, without problem
- Gameplay : low volleys don't go out anymore when prepared too early
- Gameplay : most lobs that were supposed to be too long were actually landing on the baseline
- World Tour : Davis Cup Matches should be counted with the correct surface in the statistics

Notes :
- Changelog of previous versions is here : topic15-2481.php
- as usually, if you notice any glitch or bug, thanks to report them !
- don't forget to exit TE2009 before to install the latest version
- Mac Users : the Mac OSX version will come within a few days

Important Note :
Post in this topic only if it's related to the latest new version, ie only for these 2 cases :
- about a point listed in the New Features / Changes / Bug Fixes
- about a bug that you are sure didn't happen in the previous version but happens in the new one (else, post in the "Bug Report" forum)
Do not write about anything else, else I may delete your post without any prior warning (or at very least, I won't answer it) ; if you're not sure your topic is related or not to the latest version, just create a new topic in the forum, it'll be fine...

Also on a side note, don't send me PM ( = Private Message) except for Private thing. Everything that can be read by everybody should be pointed out / asked in the forum, so my comments & answers could also be read by everybody, and hopefully, I won't have to write them again when someone else will have the same comments / questions...

Re: Tennis Elbow 2009 1.0d

Postby manutoo » 26 Nov 2009, 08:46

Build 40, November 26th:

Changes :
- Gameplay : the Danger Zone reflects now the wingspan of the 2H-FH or/and 2H-BH (when having it) instead of the 1H slice strike, thus it's easier to position yourself when doing your normal 2H strike
- Gameplay : served slice should be more powerful, more or less same than before
- Gameplay : Net Jump Speed slightly reduced, except for Varied & Volleyer styles

Bug Fixes :
- Online : maybe the chat doesn't block & crash the game anymore ; fingers crossed... :fear:
- Online : doubles shouldn't have too much desync anymore
- World Tour : should be able to play a CPU vs CPU match after have quit one
- World Tour : correct round displayed for Head To Head Master Cup Matches

Build 41, November 27th:

Changes :
- Language : Spanish updated

Bug Fixes :
- Service : sliced serve speed is now correct for right-handed players
- Online : a bug that could occur when opening & closing the chat quickly with an average or bad connection has been fixed (it'd then open & close the chat many times)

Notes :
- Online : I still cannot reproduce the bug that makes the game being blocked after closing the chat ; it happened only once on my PC in several hours of test ; if someone could detect a pattern that leads to this blocking & provide some steps to reproduce it 100% of the times, it'd greatly help me ; though, if the game is blocked, try to open the chat again, wait a couple of seconds, and close it, to see if it makes the game restart or not ; then let me know about the result of this test ; also, send me your "System.log" by email after such blocking occurred & have closed the game (if you know how to do that)... Thanks for your help... :)
- I'm of course sorry for the inconvenience the last bugs created, but a good bunch of comments are really misplaced...

Build 42, November 28th:

Changes :
- Gameplay : easier to get Kicked Serve in

Bug Fixes :
- Service : sliced serve is back to v1.0c ; only CPU uses new slice serve
- Online : chat bug fixed ; this should also fix some random crashes happening at end of a match, after have chatted during the match (thx to Togtdyalttai for his help to track down this damn bug... :fear: )

Notes :
- Hopefully, this will be the last update before a while...

Build 43, November 29th:

Changes :
- Online : the key to block the Chat has been changed from Space to Tab (to avoid to block the chat inadvertently)

Bug Fixes :
- Animation : over-twisting & wrongly oriented body fixed (it was happening when walking backward while preparing to strike, with a right-hander player)
- Animation : jerkiness on running forward fixed

Notes :
- This should be the last update for a while, almost sure this time... ':D
- Note : for European users with slow connection, try the Mirror download link from Toogame in 1st post of this topic

Changes :
- World Tour : when you take control of a CPU player, the AutoPos & Preview settings are now copied from your own player (you can still modified then before starting the match, though)

Re: Tennis Elbow 2009 1.0d

Postby manutoo » 04 Feb 2010, 07:15

Build 45, February 4th:

New Features :
- Language : Hungarian added ; if any Hungarian people read this, thanks to report if the translation is ok or not

Changes :
- AI : CPU should noticeable rush the net less when he's standing after the baseline, except if he's volleyer or varied style
- AI : CPU now goes more far from the baseline after have done a lob, and lobs less often when near or inside the baseline
- Animation : 2H-Forehand tuned & wingspan noticeably increased
- Gameplay : on service returns, with a 2-Hand Forehand or Backhand, instead of sending the ball in the net if you just clip the ball while on the run, you'll send it back in play, but with lower precision (if u hit it from the side, it'll still go in the audience, though)
- Gameplay : the volley jump doesn't trigger too fast anymore ; depending of your Net Presence, your player will need between 0.20s to 0.65s after the ball has been hit, before he can start to jump
- Gameplay : lobs done when the opponent is not at net are now less precise & often a bit shorter
- World Tour : by default, the CPUs in a CPU vs CPU match will have their difficulty set to Pro-10 ; it can be changed in the CPU vs CPU options, but this is the recommended setting, as it'll produce the most realistic results

Bug Fixes :
- Init : if the Tennis.ini is missing, a default one will be use instead
- Init : if a crash occurs during the saving of the Tennis.ini, the previous one will be used on next game load (that should prevent the lost of your settings & Training Club players, that occurs rarely)
- Online : if the connection is lost before the host click "Play", the 2nd & 4th players won't be overwritten by your opponent's ones
- Online : ELO penalty is applied when you exit the game by clicking the top right "x" in windowed mode
- Online : a new SubBuild release won't force you to update the game anymore if the connection failed when entering the Network menu
- World Tour : if u watch a CPU vs CPU match and exit the game before the end of the match, then unselect this match to skip it, & watch another match, the score will now start from 0, not from where u left the previous match
- Display : the shadow is correctly oriented when the players change ends
- Replay : if you start the replay by pressing the "Enter" key from the in-game menu, it won't exit the replay right away anymore
- Profiles : game doesn't crash anymore when swapping from a profile to another one with a different language ; instead it keeps the language of the 1st profile
- Animation : separate leg animation starts correctly & smoothly
- Animation : a random glitch animation on return fixed
- Animation : engine calculates now correctly when the player is too far from the ball, & prevent the swing accordingly
- Animation : CPU swing preparation was about 2 times too fast

Notes :
- in Build 44, the 2H-FH & BH return was good when the ball was hit on side

Re: Tennis Elbow 2009 1.0d

Postby manutoo » 15 Feb 2010, 09:00

Build 47, February 15th:

New Features :
- Stats : show the "Skill CRC" in the in-game Player Stats screen ; the CRC is long number that changes when a skill is changed (including the players' Height) ; its main goal is to let you know if your online opponent changed his skills or not since your last match with him ; to see it, you need to have Advanced Options turned on

Changes :
- Gameplay : Counter skill ball speed bonus raised by around 50% (for reminder : this bonus applies only on fast incoming balls, usually when you stand in the middle of the danger zone, only when using the Short, Normal & Top Spin Strikes ; 50% bonus is roughly equivalent of 2.5km/h for the normal strike on the fastest possible incoming ball, with 100% in counter skill ; this is unrelated to the Counter Play Style)

Bug Fixes :
- AI : drop shot frequency corrected, it should be about same than before
- CPU vs CPU : Help screen doesn't change the level of the 1st Player when he's a CPU

Right then, the counter change is going to have a huge effect on online play. I'm not the best at describing that kind of thing, so I'll leave others to it.

Togtdyalttai, I added some precisions to the consequences ; it's almost insignificant... ;)

So I got the message for the new build recently but I decided to wait till later, and the top link in the first post is the link to the latest version right? My save has gone way backwards (I was in 2001 and now it's back in '98 lol). Any way to get it back?

manutoo, does counter 100% and keeping counter skill wud give 2.5x2=5kmph shot bonus.i want to whether it wud be effective with (100% topspin) players.does they get that extra power in shots when opponent sends at 150kmph????? i mean till when i hit back it wud become too imprecise and normally fall out with 100% counter
seems counter wud be interesting from now.actually till now the counter skill was waste,i used to keep 0.so do many i think....but with this new update does it give some advantage taking counter skill? 5kmph is more big bonus to have, then counter guys wud be tougher :D
