Changing Tournament Surfaces

Postby Heather Watson » 31 Dec 2015, 00:21

Hi. I noticed that the first two singles tournaments of 2016 are different surfaces from 2015. I purposefully went onto the 2015 calendar to check which surfaces to practice on and now Ive seen the surface has changed. That kinda sucks. At least warn everyone in advance?

I think they just mistakenly put newline synthetic as classic synthetic. But it would be amended soon.

Only possible change is Auckland. (It could be on either BG Cement or Newline Synthetic)

Australian Open Series

Postby Heinrich » 31 Dec 2015, 09:25

Plexicushion (acrylic-based hard court, NewLine Synthetic) was officially installed in time for the 2008 Australian Open an is used at the lead-up tournaments (Brisbane, Sydney, Auckland and HopmanCup) to the Australian Open as well. But I guess our couldn't-care-less-moderators already know this.

Kind regards,
H.

I agree Auckland should be played on Newline Synthetic rather than BG Cement. Maybe they'd change it this year.
