Lag Rule

Postby Stajus » 03 Feb 2014, 21:03

So the rule is now 250 delay and 5% lag ratio? Why?

That sounds ridiculous...You can't return serves with maximum efficiency at 200 delay already...it's just not the same as ROS at 117-150 delay.

I think this should be changed to 184 delay, 5% lag ratio in order to avoid delays 200-250.

You know that's not true :P

And 184 delay in theory covers up to 368 ms ping...should be more than enough :fear:

Now I'm hearing that a lot of the top players play with 200 delay...is this some kind of joke?
I know for a fact that the delay difference of 200-117 affects the consistency and depth of my return of serve and I get aced more as well...Playing at 200-250 is unfair to people who don't have high pings with most players. So now this is a laggers' Tour? You're actually at a disadvantage if you're from Europe/USA and/or have a good connection.

184 is the highest delay that should be used...and anyone who has a ping over 368 ms with people shouldn't even be playing the Tour.

Oh God it's 2009 again

No one "has" a ping, that's implying you can control it at will, though you can affect it by e.g downloading, anybody can, not just non-European/USA players... I should know, as I was a victim of that from a so called "European with a good connection".

Delay doesn't affect the "consistency and depth of [your] return of serve" ; it either makes you do a safe strike, or doesn't have any influence, and it doesn't favor aces either.

Yeah, first part is probably placebo and I didn't really express it properly...the second part annoys me much more and was mostly thinking about it
It happens when I am on the ball but the delay makes you hit a safe strike return and then you get killed  It happens in rallies too if you're a bit late on the ball and trying to scramble some defensive play...but wouldn't happen at 117. Hopefully most matches can be played under 200 delay though...the safe strike kinda ruins it.

I have to somehow agree with you, even at 200 delay tops that safe strike is avoidable, but anything bigger than that number ruins the gameplay. It becomes a serving-winner lottery, not fun at all.

With bigger delays i see more aces as well, it feels like the ball travels faster than in lower delays...
