About motivation and top spin

Postby gofeddy » 07 Apr 2007, 21:12

Hello,
I wanted to know if there is any way to increase motivation bar?
I have played for more than a year and am ranked around 15 and not able to go further. But still my motivation bar says "very low" while almost all top ten players have a "very high" motivation level? :?

Also, at what % should the top spin be generally?

Top Spin 2

Postby sandramondayorchestra » 07 Apr 2007, 22:10

I can't seem to be able to train top spin. I click the button next to it and train for X hours and the percent stays at 0%.

Also, is there an optimal time to train (2 vs. 8 vs. 16)?

For top spin you can either train to INCREASE it, by clicking on the bar itself, or to DECREASE it by clicking on the little circle to the right of the bar. So it sounds like you are at 0% and are then training to decrease it - hence why its not moving.

Hello gofeddy,

your motivation bar should slightly goes up when you win, and goes down when you lose. It should get a more noticeable boost when you win a tournament...
It also depends of secondary elements like your available money, the class of hotel & plane you take, etc...

Hello sandramondayorchestra,

sorry forgot to answer your question last time.
===> No, there's no optimal time to train.

I was doing the same thing as well.

What would be the advantage of decreasing the Top Spin attribute?

I assume there must be circumstances in which it would be better to have a lower Top Spin % or the option to decrease would not be there!

Top spin gives you a bonus on clay & slow surfaces (higher for rally players, and lower for volley players), but it makes your player tired a bit faster, whatever the surface is.

So basically, if you have a volleyer playing on fast surface, you'll prefer to have a low topspin, and if you have a defender playing on clay, you'll prefer to have a high top spin.

That makes sense on the top spin (and explains why my player seemed to get more tired after I cranked up his top spin rating).

One more thing (for now), when playing a match I notice the Stress bar does some strange things. I can understand it leaping up when a player is facing set point on a tie break, but sometimes I see it increase for no apparent reason - like when my player is leading 2-0 in the opening set. So my question is what type of things factor in to the stress calculation?

Oh, and while I think of it - how are the bonus indicators worked out? Like the Play speed bonus etc.

1) players can get stressed when they lead the score, or play against a less good player

2) The match bonus depends of the interaction between your skills and your opponent skills ; ie: u get the play speed bonus by having more powerful & precise rally strikes than your opponent has reflexe and speed. (i have to write a complete doc about this as well... :? )
