accelerate matches?

Postby Safinator » 06 Sep 2005, 04:36

hi, first i want to say that this is a great game, but there are a few things bothering me:

1. is there a cheat that facilitates to accelerate the matches? at the moment i'm playing till anyone leads with 2 games. then i quit with "mtkil" or i simply give up.. it would be ideal if a cheat could bring me to the tiebreak. or is it possible with a combination of cheats, that are already in the game? i just know these 4: mtwin, mitkil, mtrun, mtbal

2. is more a critic on the gameplay: there are two very annoying things: no passing shots possible and no possility to initialize the points (if the opponent reaches the ball, there's no matter if he ran all over the court or if he catches it in the very last moment or what height the ball is.. he just hits it perfectly..)

i hope you can help me (with point no.1, i think point no.2 is not possible, so im still searchin for the perfect tennis game while playin tennis elbow.. )

ok, thx (but still a great game)

Hello,

1) Would you be happy with a setting (either in the Tennis.ini or maybe in the menus) letting you choose the number of games per set ?

2) Actually, when the AI player hits the ball while running, he is less likely to hit acceleration, and he is a bit more likely to do fault. Moreover, when he hits a ball very low, he can do fault sometimes...
But it's true the AI is not as much annoyed as a real player by difficult ball. I may do some changes in the future.

I don't understand what you mean by "no passing shots possible".

And thanks for your esteem of Tennis Elbow... :)

Regards,

1) that would be great.. but what do you exactly mean by "choose the no of games per set"? if you set "2", for example, would there be a tiebreak at 1:1, or 2:2? and is it possible to set "0" to play the tiebreak right away..?

2) i mean, ive never seen an opponent who just gets the ball in the nick of time and has to play a high ball or a very slow ball, so you can get to net closer with every single (good) hit..
and the thing with the passing shots (i dont know if its called like this in english..) is, that once an opponent reaches the net, its not possible to make a direct point (instead of a lob, and i dont think its very realistic to play stop n lob with roger federer, just because its my only chance to win-well actually, maybe noone is trying this.. ;) ). i play at the highest level and it implies against EVERYONE (no matter if no. 300 or no.1 of entry list) to play stop n lob... :(

1) 6 games per set gives the tie break at 6/6, so 2 games per set will give the tiebreak at 2/2 .
It wouldn't be possible to set 0 to start the tie break right away.

2) Ok then you should practice your passing shots a bit more, because it's definitively possible to strike winning passing shots ! ;-)
Most of time it's not possible to pass in 1 time, but usually, it's possible to pass in 2 or 3 times.
Sometimes it's better to use the short shot, and some other times it's better to use the acceleration, depending of your position and the position of your opponent.

1.) ok, can i already edit these settings?

2.) from my own personal experience i have to say that it is really impossible to make passing shots once the opponent reached the t-line.. but i get my points for the champions race, don't worry..

2 again) even at the highest level the opponent plays every single volley in the middle of the field, only every 10 volley gets in the corners... baaaad...

Hello,

1) no, it'll be released with the version 1.0a next week

2) I did a bit more testing, and u were right, they did too much volleys in the center of the field. I changed that, and now, in medium mode & above, they do about 50% of shots in the middle, and 50% near the lanes (it depends a bit of their play style, too).

About passing shot, when the AI player is on the T-Line or a bit closer of the net is almost easy to pass him, but once he's stuck to the net, it's almost impossible to pass him, especially on fast surface.
