How to outhit a hack [is the game too hard ?]

Postby Preston » 10 Aug 2005, 17:31

Am somewhat perplexed about the world tour. I know it is meant to be the toughest, but how on earth does one beat a hack (i.e. low %s in every skill area Vs high percentages 75+)?

Everytime I give it my best shot, not only does a bad form player get to the ball quickly, they hit the ball back with interest --- and this is just in challenger mode!

A very good serve is placed, yet it is past me before I can properly move, let alone guess the direction of the return.

Yes, a degree of skill is required, but this is nuts. It's killing any enjoyment.

Hello,

I don't understand very well all you said here... :)

If you play with the Beta version, the difficulty of your opponent is always in medium whatever you chose when creating your new game.

If you have 25% everywhere, it's sure it'll be very hard to beat a player with 75% everywhere.
You have to play in low rank tournaments to amass training points, and train yourself till you get good skills.

If you want general tips to beat the Easy & Medium, have a look there :

To return serves of strong servers, you should go a bit more far from the base lines, use the preview setting to see where the ball will land, and do some very little left-right movements, to start to run faster.

How to outhit a hack [is the game too hard ?]

Thank you for the reply - I have been away for some days, so apologies for my delayed update.

To clarify the original point I was trying to make:

The NEW player I created has current skill settings for forehand, backhand, form and serve of 80%+

When I encounter players (even in a Challenger tournament) who have much lesser %s (i.e. 20% overall in most skill areas), they still out-hit my best shots and at such angles that it is near impossible to cover the distance to retrieve.

I was thinking this is a bit odd. It should be that the stronger player overall in percentages should have the upper hand.

When I use the default French player in World Tour mode, I am able to sufficiently compete with top players, and this default player is approx 75% allround!

I trust this outlines my dilemma a bit better. For now, I will keep on using the default player, as I am able to compete and have more fun with this game.

You're not playing with the Beta, are you ?

Thank you,
Preston.

Hello,

if you play in "Very Easy" or "Easy" mode, you could easily blast most opponents in 1 or 2 accelerations.

If you play in medium, you should still be able to quickly beat players with 20% average skills, if you have 80+ in your forehand.
And in hard or incredidle, you'll have to learn to deliver very precise shots, in good opening to beat them.
